Honestly first thought is “oh crap there is going to be soo much lovey barftastic sh**t on facebook.” you know what I mean…counting down the days, hours, the Oh i just CANT WAIT to be Mrs. lastname.” “So blessed to have this man in my life”

Yuck! who wants that on their newsfeed!

Then I check out their cute engagement pics (ring picks, oh yes) and get over it.

It really depends on who it is… when a good friend gets engaged I’m all “YAY OPEN BAR WEDDING!” When it’s more of an acquaintance or random facebook friend, I’m neutral. If it’s a person I hated in high school, then I get judgey and cross my fingers it doesn’t last. I’m 29 and all of a sudden there’s a wave of people I know getting married.

@tiff-tiff-tiff:  This! I’ve seen so much wedding planning splurge on my news feed in the last couple of years. I’ve temporarily hidden a couple of people because it was too much! I’m glad they’re excited and so they should be, but I don’t need to know that you’ve chosen your bridal underwear, how much you’ve spent on each other’s wedding rings or are torn between two different shapes of balloon arches (genuine examples). This makes me sounds like a cow I’m sure but come on… I will be keeping it very minimal indeed when my time comes! ๐Ÿ™‚

@LittleWigeon:  I’m with you on that one! Sad but true ๐Ÿ™ sometimes it’s even followed up with ‘wonder how long that will last’

I can relate to pretty much all of these replies!!!!! Hated getting all the notifications about people getting engaged right after graduation – it’s like come on, at least live together for a while (FI and I had lived together 8 months by then). That’s why we kept it to one picture and one status each, then that’s it! I’m not used to no longer being a wiaitng bee, plus the ladies on this board are amazing and I don’t wanna leave ๐Ÿ˜›

Everytime I get irritated seeing ANOTHER friend get engaged, I have to remind myself that there is not a finite number of engagements and that I should just be happy for them.

But ya my initial reaction is always the same lol

@tiff-tiff-tiff:  My initial reaction is something like: Ouch. “That’s fabulous! How nice for them!” Crap, I’m soooo jealous, I feel behind in life, what is my SO waiting for. They don’t know how lucky they are!

๐Ÿ™

I’ve been waiting for a year and a half now. Blecccchhhh.

My first reaction is usually: “SHOW ME THE RING, SHOW ME THE RING, SHOW ME THE RING, SHOW ME THE RING, SHOW ME THE RING, SHOW ME THE RING, SHOW ME THE RING, SHOW ME THE RIIIIINNNNNNGGGGG!!!!!!”

….

No idea why but thats the first thing that comes to mind….

Hope it’s okay that I’m posting even though I’m not a Waiting Bee anymore. My Fiance and I were together for five years before he proposed, and we were long distance for two of those years, so I know how much the waiting game blows. When people got engaged who were younger than we were (25) or had been together for less time, or not made it through something as difficult and relationship-testing as living on separate continents for two years, I was all “GRRRRR.” I was surprised at myself that I only felt this way with acquaintances and Facebook friends, though. When a good friend of mine got engaged during that time I thought I would feel the same, but I was genuinely happy for him.

@Laurenplusalex:  We decided on summer 2015 but no specific date yet. I had to stop reading the June/July/August 2015 boards because those Bees are so ahead of the game and I was feeling inadequate, haha… we’ve literally done NO planning unless Pinning stuff on Pinterest counts :-/

@Regina Phalange:  We’ve decided on June 28th but it still hinges on money a little. I’m really hoping it works out
