sweetaslemons :  Well at this point I won’t be waiting much longer – I got an “at some point in the next six months” about two weeks ago. In general I think he wanted to wait until we were far enough past our one year mark that we weren’t getting engaged on our annviersary, and give us a chance to get past the holidays and some house remodeling so it didn’t get lost in the hubub.

shaynayna :  The decision to better himself is one he needs to make entirely on his own.  In the meantime, why are you wife-ing things up and allowing him to get away with hurting you?

My boyfriend ordered his wedding band/engagement ring?, but we’re waiting a bit longer to order my engagement ring until he can sell some stocks. Plus the ring will take some time to complete. He said he wanted to wait until I finish grad school (as did I initially/plus it’s around our anniversary), but I’m kind of hoping it happens a little sooner now that we’ve had the ring talk.

I ruined his proposal plan though, so that may change the timeline… I talked about how I was thinking of proposing to him, but he wanted to do it because he had a good idea. He asked me what my plan would have been, and I told him. He laughed, and I asked if he had the same idea… And it was quite similar. I guess we know each other too well!

I think we are ready now, but we’ve had a lot of growing to do as a couple. We’ve both had pretty much nonstop major life changes since we started dating 2.5 years ago (living together for two), which has added a lot of stress and hurdles. Lately, our communication has really improved and we are dealing with the stressors better as a couple (less taking it out on each other). Unfortunately he just had a major medical emergency and is undergoing diagnosis that may drastically alter the course of our lives, so that may postpone things a bit. I think the time is coming though , the talks have become a lot more frequent and he has been asking if I would say yes, looking at rings, etc.

I was reeeeally dreaming of a proposal on the vacation we are taking soon (super romantic trip), but I am 99% sure he hasn’t bought a ring yet, I don’t think he would’ve been able to keep it from me. It would be the perfect opportunity which is a bit of a bummer but hopefully soon!

I guess that life got in the way. Family stuff is holding up things, and we want to take care of that first.

Money for mine, I think. I am from another country and completely alone here, and he has 0 family to support him. He had mentioned that if he were to propose, he’d want to be married within a year and he doesn’t understand longer engagements.

If I’m being honest, my bf of 8 years won’t propose because he gets all the benefits already of having a wife without having to marry me. Plus he just doesn’t give a f*** about it.

My bf told me he wasn’t ready yet and I want to believe. I really want to but I start to get angry and feel the pressure on myself for not being engaged after 4,5 years.

He told me during our last argument that I could have everything if I just let him take his time to prepare something. So that’s why I shut up now and wait .But I have set myself a timeline for June 2019. If I am not engaged by that time I fear i have to leave. Almost 5 years then and he still has to convince himself to marry me would be too much for me.
