I’m not sure if anyone was interested in how my fiancé’s and my relationship has been going, but we’ve had a couple rough patches and last night we finally had a good talk and laid everything out on the table (instead of getting overly emotional and arguing).
Basically, we’ve been ‘engaged’ since March (after a discussion and a compromise). Lately, he’s been really uncomfortable with the idea of taking engagement pictures or telling his parents, so we ended up having a few arguments about what our relationship really was…he didn’t not want be engaged, but he didn’t want to be “officially” engaged.
So we still call each other fiancé (Or, as he told me he does, the Mrs.), but he’s going to propose in a year/year and a half and then we’ll start actively planning a wedding. So our wedding will be in 2-3 years, after he has a license he wants so his business can really go forward that’s super expensive…pretty much where his money is going toward for now.
And this is all freaking awesome to me 🙂 I have a timeline, he’s going to give me a “fancy schmancy” proposal as he says (and when I asked why he wanted to propose he told me it was “because it’ll make you happy” which is so sweet).
As for what our relationship is called now, we pretty much agree to disagree. It’s not worth arguing about. Everyone knows we’re engaged, and we’re not going to confuse them. We love each other and we’re getting married someday and that’s all that matters, not whether it’s this that or the other thing. 🙂
