Hi bees
Someone pleeeease help me decide what to do!
Here’s the background….
We aren’t even officially engaged yet but the ring is purchased and I’ll be receiving it in some surprise manner in the next couple of months (yay!). We have already booked our venue and set the date (a bit back to front but hey…) So….I have my heart set on a winter wedding with the city’s xmas lights etc switched on (I love the festive season) but unfortunately we couldn’t afford to arrange it for this winter so booked for next.
Now I’m starting to have doubts tho about how far away that is from now and am considering bringing the date forward 6 months to summer 2014. We have been together for 6 years now and I just can’t wait any longer to become his wife……but if we bring it forward to summer it kills my dreams of a winter wedding. Fiance has no preference on when we do it.
What would you do?? Stick with the winter wedding which is my dream wedding or bring the date forward so we get to have our day sooner and I get to become his wife sooner???
Am I just being stupidly impatient and will I end up regretting not having the wedding I really wanted for the sake of 6 months ?? Or should I marry the man I love as soon as I can???
Does anyone have any experience of this?? Opinions/advice would be very welcome!
Thanks

Keep the dreamy winter wedding. Our engagement will have been two years by the time we say our vows and really, it flies by. Plus, we had extra time to plan and save for our wedding and honeymoon.

We were engaged for a year and 4 months and it sucked. I was so done with it all after like, 8 months. I would say move it up. There is no reason you can’t still have the pretty lights. Unless you are wanting the cold weather you really don’t have to change anything. Just decorate your reception with christmas lights!

Keep your winter wedding dream!!!! You’ll never get it back again and you will be so happy you waited.
I understand your pain, Fiance and I will be together 9 years just before our wedding, still haven’t lived together yet, and we got engaged in Jun’11….its now May’13 lol It’s rough, but honestly it will be worth it.
I wanted a September wedding forever, but we needed to save more for our wedding and a house combined so we did a 2.5 year engagement. I won’t lie, I was so close to moving ours up a full year…but we didn’t and I’m glad we didn’t. You will only be waiting 6 more months and believe me those 6 months are going to fly by. I think the months of June-Dec are so fast between summer and all the holidays.
Keep the dream, you only do this once and you don’t want to regret it! 🙂

You want winter, so keep winter. Six months won’t make a difference in the long run IMO.

move it upppp! you only live once and you love him and want to be his wife.. why spend more time not married? 🙂 and once you’ve been planning for like 3 months, it’s old already lol our engagment will be 13 months long and while it was a good amount of time to plan, I wish I was married already!

Ha ha ha! I’m with you on the excited/impatient front! However, if you want that winter wedding, hold off and learn to live with that darn “will it never come?!” feeling! … I’m trying not to move my wedding up myself but September is what I want and I need a year to save so… um… September 2014 it is!
Good luck!!!

Oh I wish I could find some patience! Maybe if I pick one wedding task to do each month it will help pass the time! lol!
