tess90 : From reading your post, it sounds to me like he is very excited to propose and to do a suprise proposal & surprise ring! I think he’s just being mysterious. It seems like he understands your timeline.
One thing I would suggest is to go to a jewler together! It can be a fun date. I feel like so many guys don’t realize how complicated buying a ring is, and how many options there really are. When it comes to different options of the band, stone, style, etc, there are seriously thousands of options.
You can go to a jewler together, and he can let them know you are there to get ideas of the ring you would like. In my experience in the US, if you tell them you are getting ideas but NOT looking to purchase a ring that day, they will still take the time to give you a good experience! You can ask to be sized, and to try on a few styles that you think you might like. They will not be annoyed, couples do this all the time and it’s a good way for them to get business because many of the men will return to that store later on to actually make a purchase.
Me and my FH did this. It was important to him that the ring would be a surprise, but he understood that in order to be a GOOD suprise, he should know exactly what I like in a ring. After all, you will be wearing it for the rest of your life!
