So I may seem a little psycho for even making this post, but I have been stalking this website as well as planing my wedding which is 6 years away. I know you’re all like OMG this girl is nuts. Well this is my story- I am actually getting married March 6th 2014. My Fiance is in the Military and will be getting deployed, so we have decided to have our dream wedding(vow renewal) on/around our 5 year anniversary. The date will be March 2 2019. Do you think this is crazy for me to have agreed to this? We have been together for 8 years and our love story is far from a fairytale. I am utterly in love with him though and can never imagine spending my life with anyone else. Are there any other ladies out there waiting more tahn 5 years for their dream wedding??

@MrsPore2019: That’s not crazy at all. You don’t need a wedding to get married 🙂

I’m also waiting for my dream wedding! We went to the courthouse and got married and now i’m still looking at ideas for our vow renewal. Not crazy at all

not crazy. you deserve your dream wedding, so if you can’t do it when you actually get married, i say a vow renewal is a great way to do it!

I’m doing the same thing! We got engaged two weeks before moving abroad, and decided that we didn’t want to wait to make it official.
In 3 days DH’s best friend got ordained to marry us and we organized a 5 minute ceremony and brunch for 40 people. I know 40 people is considered a small wedding, but I want to have a celebration where all of my friends and the rest of my family who couldn’t be there can attend. I think it’s a great idea 🙂

So many things went wrong at my wedding that I fantasise about “fixing ” it at my vow renewal… I feel so bad but …. oh well

Aww thanks for making me feel better ladies. Merry Christmas!

I was married in October 2010. We eloped because that was what we could afford.
We are having a vow renewal in October 2015. I only care about the opinions of those who will be attending.
Many military couples have quickie weddings and then their dream wedding later. Do it up and be happy.
If you want to talk about vow renewals, feel free to PM me.
