I came home from work today and was upstairs putting on pajamas (yes, I put on pajamas the second I get home from work) and putting away laundry when the doorbell rang. Suddenly, he yells up from downstairs, “Where’s the credit card?” – to which I quickly respond in my typical “need-to-know-EVERYTHING” manner, “For what??” He said, “There’s a delivery that has to have some customs fees paid”
And then I knew – IT’S HERE! My ring is here!! We ordered it online a week or so ago and it’s here already! As we made our decision to get engaged together and picked out the ring together, this is not exactly a surprise but still SO exciting. Especially since I’m not allowed to see the ring in person until he proposes. I made him open the box while I was in the other room and kept asking questions, “Is it beautiful? Will I love it? Is it sparkly??”, he assures me that I will be thrilled with it, that the pictures don’t do it justice compared to how it looks in person. He even made me close my eyes and tried it on the ring finger on my right hand to make sure it will fit (it does – and nothing is harder than keeping your eyes closed while your future engagement ring is slipped over your finger!)
So now I just have to KEEP WAITING – he still wants to talk to my Dad and we aren’t set to see them again until the first weekend in October. I’m secretly hoping that he’ll propose on Halloween (my favourite holiday) but I’m leaving it up to him. Now to figure out how to forget that it’s coming and that I’m living in the same house as my engagement ring!!

@LibbyLoo: Awesome! I would go nuts to be honest. Everything we did I would be thinking, “Is this it?”

Eeeee! Sooo exciting!! Tell us about the ring you picked out!

I put pjs on as soon as I get home from work too!
That’s so exciting and so fun! A halloween proposal would be fun – but don’t be disappointed if that doesn’t happen then 🙂 (Halloween is my fav holiday too!)

@LibbyLoo: That’s so exciting! I was in a similar situation to you…I helped pick out my ring and knew when my fiance bought it, but I had to wait until he proposed to get it. Luckily, he didn’t make me wait too long!

Thanks ladies! While I think a Halloween proposal would be super cute, I also want it to be a surprise so I’m not even mentioning it to him because it really is the only thing he gets to decide on his own in our situation. Regardless of when or how, I’m just super excited to finally get to marry my best friend – we’ve been together for a bit over 4 years and lived together 4 years this November so it’s been a long time coming.
The ring – sigh…oh, my ring! I’m a pretty non-traditional girl and I always knew that I wanted an aquamarine as the centre stone and we found my dream ring (on eBay of all places – taking it to a jeweler this week to have it appraised as it has a 30 day money back guarantee on it and we just want to make sure it is what they said it was), it’s a 3.02 carat emerald cut aquamarine surrounded by a double halo of .75 carats of natural diamonds in a white gold split-shank setting. I have chubby fingers (size 9) and the best part about chubby fingers is you can pull off bigger rings. Which is a good thing because I’ve always liked big rings!
Now back to reading all the blogs written by Mrs. Octopus – I swear that girl is my wedding/engagement style soulmate!

how did you NOT open your eyes when it was on your finger ! wow good job! very exciting

I’d tell him to hide it somewhere other than the house (his office, perhaps?) because if it were me I wouldn’t be able to keep myself from looking for it, lol.
Congrats on being 1 step closer!
(Halloween is also my fav holiday and ditto on the pjs as soon as I get home–life’s too short to stay in work clothes all day!)

I totally know the feeling – having the ring in the house is torture – I don’t know what I would have done if SO had tried it on me like that! Very impressed with your self control.

Exciting! I’m in a similar position, I know he as ordered the ring (since we got a security phone call from his bank, haha!) but I have NO clue what it is like or when it will happen!

I’m also in a similar situation to you and fellow bees. SO has the ring but I have no idea when it will happen. I’ve already waited a month and not sure how long it will “bee” Luckily for me SO and I don’t live together so I’m not tempted to look for the ring (although I’ve already seen it) .
I hope for you that it will be on Halloween, that would be great. I’m personally hoping before my best friend gets married on Oct 21st, so who knows maybe we’ll both be engaged by October!

Trust me, I’m impressed with my own self control. I think it stems from ruining a big Christmas present (tickets to see New Kids on the Block – shut up, I was 11 lol) from snooping when I was younger and realizing how much better it is to be surprised. The ring is safe in the house – I’m not tempted to snoop at all – I know what it looks like, just haven’t seen it in person so I will just somewhat patiently wait til he decides the moment is right.
And by somewhat patiently wait, I mean he’s got til November 1st…just kidding. (sort of…)
