I can def feel your pain of waiting … but ask yourself this “would you rather wait for the ring you WANT or get w/e ring is out there ” … the Jeweler is making some sense  when he is speaking of the rectangular ( radiant cut or emerald would fit this category)  and oval shapes as these stones are rare in some cases … I chose an emerald cut diamond ( hoping to be engaged before the holidays) and even my jeweler mentioned that those stones are rare and not always available. It’s always nice to get what you want esp if your SO is open enough to let you chose your diamond of preference…. I say if you REALLY want that type of stone wait for it and wait till your SO saves up enough to even get you the size you want … if not tell him lets work around his current budget.

    Good Luck!

For $2,500 my ring TC came out to 1.76.

The center stone 1.01 carats blue diamond, the rest is white diamonds surrounding it and on all on the band. It looks stunning! For the money your SO has, I think he can get a great ring!

But if your heart is truly set on a 2 CT center stone, then I suggest what PP suggested. Just ask him to save up for another few weeks so he can make that happen.

@Torrid:  I have to agree …. not for nothing a 1.7 vs 2.0 look exactly the same even the jeweler made that comment 1.7 in price may be different , but actual size looks the same :-)… but again do what makes you ultimately happy …

I would go on Etsy and look at their rings. You can get a great carat count for the money your SO has. That’s where I got my ring!

He has only $2500 right now???  I’ve seen some very nice rings that will fit in that budget! $2500 still is a lot of money. Sometimes I think the ring is more important than the man and his proposal!
