I’m patiently waiting on my new bridal set, it won’t be here until the end of the month. (being set/band special ordered) Over the past six months I’ve been debating, feeling guilty, going back and forth about my current bridal set. At first my husband was againt a replacement. (sentimental reasons) We’ve discussed reasons/finances and come to the conclusion that it’s okay. And it will make me very happy! I thought back to the time when I got engaged, (over 4 years ago) and how I had this vision of a ring. The ring I chose was not it. But that wasn’t my hubby’s fault. The center stone is a lot smaller than I like and I should have gotten something bigger back then.
So…I placed the order with Helzberg. We’ve enjoyed doing business with them. I bought a 14k yellow gold mounting, with 6 prongs/white gold head. (size 6) I chose a 14k yellow gold plain wedding band. (2.5mm) They placed an order for a 1/2 carat moissanite for the mounting. I couldn’t be more happy!
My reason for choosing the moissanite stone is because I saw how much the Bees here loved them. Plus they sparkle like nobody’s business! BLING! Love it! I’ve lurked around the threads and even seen the debates about them. I don’t plan on passing my ring off for anything that it’s not. It’s not a diamond. I’m not ashamed to admit that. Moissy, sapphire, or ruby…I think it’s incredibaly tacky for someone to ask if another person’s ring is real. To me it’s right up there with “How much money do you make?”
The other reason is I like the price for our current budget. And I’ll be darned if I let someone who does not support me/my family give me flack for that. We make our own money, don’t get assistance in any way, budget, save and more. It’s the responsible thing to do. We’re not in a position to spend thousands of dollars (comfortably) on a ring. I know that. I think it would be selfish of me to expect my husband to spend that kind of money, especially when we have other priorities.
Do we plan on getting a diamond in the future? Possibly. I want to see how this turns out. If the moissy stands the test of time then I’ll keep it and would be happy to replace it with another. Helzberg has a lifetime plan that I purchased on the set that includes the stone. So it’s just like any other gem stone in that respect. Trust me I had a ton of questions. Like how do you clean a moissy? Ect.
Are there any bees who have had a moissy ring for greater than 3 years? I’d like to know how they hold up. I’m not familiar with the long term life of a moissy. I’ve had costume jewelry with cheapie stones that have held up pretty well. So I think that’s a good sign.
Thanks, ladies! I’m so happy to be finally getting my dream ring!
