@StevieJo:  Sorry to hear that you are anxious. I also have irregular cycles, but I do have family history of talking a long time to get pregnant. I just got my hormones blood test on Mon (DH did his today) so I hear you about the anxiety of waiting for the results!

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you! I know its really nerve racking to think about, but your family history should be reassuring! And there are always other options if you find you can’t conceive naturally πŸ™‚

I have basically the same story as you–totally irregular periods my whole life; family full of perfectly fertile women. I’m glad you’re getting it checked out, because chances are very good that whatever’s causing this can be treated relatively easily. Once I was diagnosed and treated, I managed to conceive, so there is hope. Good luck to you!

Your story sounds a lot like mine.  Very infrequent periods, family full of fertiles, and nada for you.  I was diagnosed with PCOS (even with no cysts and very few of the typical symptoms).  I needed help but was able to get pregnant.  I’m now due in 7.5 weeks and have had a very healthy pregnancy.

Wishing you the best of luck and an easy time getting your BFP!

@StevieJo:  Sorry you’re having to wait it out. I’ve also got a fertile family (Dad’s one of nine, a cousin has 7, you get the idea). I have medical problems, and believe I’m unable to get pregnant as well. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and cross my fingers for you! *hugs*

@StevieJo: A very similar thing happened to me! I’ve always had irregular periods, and I would go for up to 6 months without them sometimes and then at one point I had almost constant bleeding for 6 months and then they became totally irregular long cycles..I was so worried and no dopctor could find an answer. I had my hormone levels checked and an US which were normal.

Happily I got pregnant in spite of all this and am now a month away from giving birth! So there is definitely lots of hope for you!!!!

Have you tried temping to confirm if you are ovulating? Might be worth a go.

Just remember you can have PCOS without cysts and cysts without it being PCOS.  It’s really a bunch more to do with blood work then just cysts.  What blood work are they doing?

@StevieJo:  Did they do an time glucose challege?  How about testing vitamin D and B12 levels?  How about a thorough thyroid test (not just tsh, needs to also be free t3, free, t4 and tpo antibodies at the least)?  If not, you might want to push for those.  Insulin resistance can be a much more reliable indication of PCOS then ovarian cysts.  Having deficient D3 and B12 levels or a thyroid that’s off can all also throw off your cycles.
