I’m 27 and we were going to start TTC this summer but we might be putting it off for another year 🙁 because we might be buying a house :).

@FireflyT: I read this and indeed it is interesting but even with all the difficulty TTC that we are having, I still have absolutely no regret not having children in my 20’s.

We have been TTC for over a year now, have stage 3 endometriosis and I will be 31 this month. Having children at 30 or after was always my goal, heck I did not even want to get married until I was 26 or older!

I am nerous about this too…I am in my first year in a chemistry PhD program, so I don’t even have the option to have a baby during school because I am an organic chemist and don’t want to be breathing in all those chemicals when I get pregnant! Which means we will have to wait until I graduate at 28 yo, and then get established in my career. I’m really afraid of having trouble conceiving when we start trying, but it’s really not an option before that.

Yeah the article upset me when I read it, but I do think its good to be educated. Many many women do successfully have kids in their 30s. My cousin is 40 and is pregnant with her 2nd child as we speak 🙂

I turn 29 at the end of May and I’m hoping to either be pregnant or have given birth (God willing) by the time I hit 30.  I came off the pill in Feb this year so we haven’t really started “trying” as such.

I really don’t see how 29 is much of a concern.

Ive always thought anything before 40 wasnt really a concern and 40+ was..

I am 24 now and hope to have my first baby around 29-30

It’s hard to say since some issues like endometriosis could lead to declining fertility over the years but if you don’t have any issues 29 probably is a bit early to worry.  I’m 29 and expecting my first in 2 months (got pregnant and will have the baby while 29).  There’s been a huge baby boom among people I graduated with in the past year from high school to grad school so 29 doesn’t seem too uncommon for a first.  We still plan on having several kiddos.

Honestly i don’t think 30 is to late in life to think about starting a family. I have an aunt who didn’t start having kids until she was in her 30’s and just had her last around 40 and he was perfectly healthy. My preference is to start a family younger. I would like to have my first by 25 and a second (if we decide) by 27 and be done.
