Ugh coming off BC has been a nightmare for me.  Yaz and Retin A kept my skin crystal clear.  Now I’m plagued by hormonal break outs that switch sides each month – I’m associating that with which ovary is releasing the egg that month…I think.

I just went to the derm last week and I’ve been using Finacea for a while which calms existing break outs and is wonderful for hyperpigmentation but it doesn’t prevent.  She just gave me a scrip for clindamycin as well – both products are safe during pregnancy so I’ve got some hope.  I’m also going to try a benzoyl peroxide cleanser again – I haven’t used Bridal Party in years!  Hopefully this helps!  It’s driving me crazy!

@candy11:  Funny you should ask. I just had my pre-TTC apt with my OB today & she gave me a handout about “Planning ahead for pregnancy.” The part about vaccinations said some infections can be prevented by immunization. Before you attempt to get pregnant, ask me if you should be immunized against rubella (german measles) and chickenpox (varicella.) If you are not immune, you may want to receive the vacination prior to planning a pregnancy. It is recommended that you wait at least one month after being vaccinated before trying to get pregnant.

I feel like I’ve heard somewhere along the line that its good to make sure you are current on your dTAP (Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis), you have to get a booster every 10 years. I think the acellular pertussis is important because that protects against whooping cough. And obviously the other boosters in the dTAP are equally as important but I feel like I heard something a couple of winters ago about little ones getting whooping cough from adults because they hadn’t had their booster shot.

GL at your apt in a couple of weeks!

@ThePrincessBride10612 said.  And you’re right about them checking your immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella – even if you were immunized as a child (which you probably were), I guess sometimes it can wear off over time.  They just check the level of antibodies in your blood – if it’s high enough, you’re good to go; if not, you’ll just need to be re-immunized.

@Swizzle:  Ooooo, lucky bridesmaids!

So, annoying rant time:  Even though DH keeps telling me that he’s far off from being ready to start TTC (like, 2-layers-of-protection-at-all-times not ready), he’s apparently giving other people the impression that it’s going to happen soon!?!?  WHAT?!?!  Ugh, Mother-In-Law was all excited last night about getting a grandbaby soon and I’m like, uh, not from me you’re not!

@UsagiTsukino:  I find that sometimes men have a very loose definition of “soon” 🙂 It’s super frustrating. This is why I’ve gotten used to trying to be really concrete with DH when talking about timing (like when talking about TTC, we’ve talked about specific seasons/months).  Maybe your Mother-In-Law interpreted his men’s “soon” (which, let’s be honest, can mean anything from a week to a year or more) with a more literal women’s soon?

@UsagiTsukino:  Ya sometimes i get the impression my Fiance is only a few months away from wanting to TTC, then other times he is at least a year. Haha i think they are similar to us where they are SUPER excited, but also very hesitant because your whole life changes when you have a child. I’m the same.  Sometimes i want a kid now, sometimes i ‘m completely happy waiting another year.

Roll Call!

Age: 33 DH is 35

When will you TTC?: August

What are you doing to get ready to TTC?: I stopped bc a couple of weeks ago.  Taking prenatals.

Do you chart? Link to the chart: Yes.  But I just started and it’s wackadoodle.  I was trying to be lazy and just use my digital thermometer but it was clearly not working.  So I finally got a BBT thermometer a day or so ago.

What are the big plans for the summer?: Want to vacation somewhere on the beach.  We were thinking Riviera Maya.  But haven’t booked anything yet.

UPDATE! Add me to the list please!

Age: 29

When will you TTC?: Not sure, soon after our wedding in September.

What are you doing to get ready to TTC?: Been off BC for over 5 years (can’t take it, every kind I try just doesn’t agree with me!)  I just started taking prenatals last month to help out my hair for the wedding and will just continue to take them.  I exercise and eat healthy.

Do you chart? No…we want to NTNP after the wedding and see what happens.  If we don’t get a BFP soon, then I’ll figure this charting thing out!

What are the big plans for the summer?: Planning for our wedding in September, and trying not to stress out!

@SadieBee:  that is very likely the case.  I talked to him about it today, and he said he was talking to her about our upcoming move, that we briefly looked at houses for sale so we could, “start to settle and raise a family”, which understandably Mother-In-Law interpreted as start a family in THAT house, but really he meant he wanted to buy a starter home that we could sell in 2 years to buy the “family-starting” house.  He’s not the best at being clear when he talks about things like this ( see: most of my frustration on the baby topic), even though you’d think he would be.  He’s a lawyer, his job is to analyse and interpret things!

Roll Call!

Age:  29, DH is 31

When will you TTC?: August! Cannot wait!

What are you doing to get ready to TTC?: I stopped bc years ago- we have been using condoms for 6 years, so far no oops babies, though wouldn’t mind one now!  Taking prenatals. Need to get to a GP though and sort out vaccines, blood tests, etc and probably a dental check up to. Trying to lose some weight- lost 4 kg/ ~9 lbs so far- doing yoga and trying to eat healthy! Also, for some reason I am obsessed with baby names- which ones are trending, which ones are popular in the US vs the UK vs Australia- not even preggo yet but already picking them- silly I know!

Do you chart? Link to the chart: Nope- I am afraid to- it seems so intimidating! Do you ladies who chart find it easy? What do you need to do/ know to “chart?” Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!

What are the big plans for the summer?: It’s actually winter here- I am in Australia! But it’s still sunny and gorgeous. Would love to plan a trip to southeast Asia/ Bali/ Indonesia. Husband’s job is busy at the moment.
