RunnerBride13:  Thanks for taking over!  To answer your question in the other thread, I usually just posted the list every few weeks…. if you posted it every time there was an update, sometimes it would be multiple times a day.

Roll call!

Age/DH’s age: 32/36

When will you TTC?:  Planning on October, but we may wait until November depending on when exactly I ovulate and how stressed I’m feeling about work…. I just started a new job.

What are you doing to get ready to TTC?:  Charting, working on my fitness, paying down debt.

Do you chart? Link to the chart:  http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/SaltedCaramel

When did you know you wanted to have kids?  I’ve always known I wanted to have kids…. I remember being a child and thinking about being a mom.  But it felt closer to home/baby fever really hit about 5 years ago, when DH and I had been dating for a year.  We spent Thanksgiving with my family and my cousins/their kids, and they had a newborn…. I left feeling like, OMG BIOLOGICAL CLOCK I WANT A BABY.  Haha.  I think that incident coincided with getting to an age where I felt like it was more realistic, though at the time I was in no way prepared to have a baby.  I was in the middle of grad school and not in any place (financial, relationship, etc) to have a baby, so had to wait a bit.

TuxedoKitty:  Your big family sounds like so much fun!!  My family is small and I’ve always wanted more cousins.  DH’s is a litle bigger, so that’s fun.

LuckyinLove17:  I’d heard that about folic acid and nails, but I’ve been taking prenatals for 1.5 years (my doc recommended starting the second I was considering TTC, wayyyyy before I actually planned to start trying) and haven’t really noticed any difference.  I’m glad someone is experiencing that benefit!

brlabrat:  OMG, that is amazing about your mat leave policies!!  I also just started a new job and we based our TTC date primarily on when I’d qualify for FMLA (so past the year mark by my due date).  FX for you!!  Also, so jealous that you have some paid mat leave!  Hope it’s all fantastic when you have more info.

KatiePi:  I’m finishing up summer school next week and trying to finish setting up our new office and our classroom (I teach resource so our 4 teacher desks are being moved from our classroom to a new office and then we can have a full classroom for our pull out groups). We have institute the 20th and kids start the 21st. It’s coming too quickly!!

I’m also doing some extra tutoring on the side this year to pad our savings… I’m hoping to work a lot this year so that I can fund our house reno in cash next summer! Good luck teaching online!

KatiePi:  The school year doesn’t end here until a week or two before the 4th of July!  I can’t even imagine being done with summer school by then.

SaltedCaramel:  Thanks!! I came to this job fully expecting 3 months of unpaid leave under FMLA, like everywhere else I’ve ever worked, but what a lucky break it would be if my first job with paid mat leave coincided with our first time TTC.

Like you, we set our TTC date based on when my due date would fall past the one-year eligibility mark. We may still end up waiting until November or December regardless of what I learn from HR… this is a totally new line of work for me and it’s bound to be pretty stressful during the first few months while I get my bearings, and I’m not sure I want that crazy adjustment period to coincide with the early days of pregnancy! So we will see. How is your new job so far? Do you expect it to be a pretty stressful situation also?

Some days it feels like becoming a mother is this unattainable goal that happens to other women but not me. I work with all men, and some of the stuff they talk about is pretty shocking. Worse still, it rubs off on me and I find myself coming out with some pretty horrible stuff. When I sit there and wonder, how did I get here……. !!!!! While other women are posting baby photos of FB and being all soft and feminine and there I am in fluoro workwear and steel-capped boots being one of the boys

Roll Call!

Age/DH’s age: 25/27

When will you TTC?:  December 2014 (though DH seems to waver on when exactly lately)

What are you doing to get ready to TTC?:  Charting to learn more about my body, will start prenatals soon, planning one last vacation!

Do you chart? Link to the chart:  My Ovulation Chart

When did you know you wanted to have kids? I never wanted kids, DH and I had decided to commit to the DINK lifestyle before we were married. Then we were house shopping for our first home and after seeing the home and walking around the yard discussing if we should buy our dream home or not, I knew. This was where I would raise our children. It took a few months for me to have a hard talk with Mr. Corgi and now we (meaning me) are (not so) patiently waiting to start a family.  C’mon December!

Can I join…can I join!

As a little background, I was a waiting bee about a year and half ago. We started TTC/NTNP in January of this year and late last month, we switched back to the “waiting” status, so we are TTA. At one point, I was the list keeper of this thread. I would love to join this thread again. I think I’ve chatted with many of you, so this should be fun.

Roll call info:

Age/DH’s age: Me 29, DH is one month shy of turning 33

When will you TTC?:  Hmmm, I don’t really know right now. It could be anything from a year to a year and half. I hope sooner rather than later, so for now, I am “TBD”.

What are you doing to get ready to TTC?:  Getting our finances, health and education in place! Basically, we want to have more money in our savings account, for one of us to get a stable job. It won’t hurt for me to lose a few pounds while I have time. I want to be able to graduate with my doctorate in the next year or so. I am doing my best to exercise regularly and take my vitamins.

Do you chart? Link to the chart:

When did you know you wanted to have kids?

My whole life I knew I wanted kids, but there were occasions that I questioned how soon and how many I wanted. I always have been a mother-like to my two brothers and little sister, so I naturally want to take care of another human being whether I have my biological children or we end up adopting. As to when I felt the urgency to have my own children, that started about two years ago after I turned 27 🙂

Went for my annual yesterday and confirmed that this month will be my last pack of pills. Also had some tests done for my thyroid and potential anemia. Better to know now right? I’m looking forward to seeing how my body regulates afterwards and am reading TCOYF in anticipation.  Got the thermometer all ready and just watching those pills dissappear impatiently.  DH can’t wait until I give him the go ahead. For us I’m the more likely one to change the date based on work. Planning on getting a new job over the winter and would really like to be there at least 3 months prior to being pregnant.  I know it is unlikely to happen right away but you never can tell with these things.

nutmeg36:  AHHH Cutting out my beloved caffiene is so hard! Its funny because in my head I was always thinking “no problem, I don’t drink coffee really ever” but those chai iced teas and dr. pepper addictions have me held tight!

RunnerBride13:  Don’t get me wrong, when I look back at the cruises we had planned, the vacations in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, and the thought of vacationing in Europe all being put on hold, I wonder if I’m crazy. But isnt that what retirement and family vacations are for? I find it more exciting to share my love of mexico with my kids, and to show them some of their Brittish heritage someday. I guess I’m not as selfish as I thought I was 😉

Last night Mr. Corgi and I booked a private couples cabin in the woods for our “fake” one year anniversary in November (we were married before the wedding and have a public anniversary and a private “just for us” anniversary on our real wedding date). I brought up possibly starting TTC then, and he didnt just change the subject or shut down, so I’m taking that as a good sign! We’re also on a fast track of paying down debt until the trip, so hopefully he’ll decide to pull the goalie sooner?  ah, waiting…
