RunnerBride13:  I bet you’re right on your SIL/BIL.  I also keep hoping that mine will call with good news!  It must be so frustrating.  On a happy note, a friend’s cousin who’s been trying to get pregnant for years recently announced that they are expecting!!  I love when people get to the happy part.

LaurenKK:  Your job sounds so mellow!  I am a clinical social worker but my workplace is definitely not like that.  Also jealous of your 4-day schedule!  Do you do 10 hour days?  And, so awesome that you think your parents will be moving to you.  My mom has said that she would do a day or two of child care when we have a baby, which will be so fantastic (we’ll do day care for whatever days she is not doing… sadly it’s unlikely I’ll be able to work less than 5 days).

LuckyinLove17:  I have been through this with my DH… we have both always wanted kids, but I’ve always been more impatient and he’s been more practical (read: not yet).  What was helpful for us was setting a timeline pretty far out (ie last year sometime, we talked about TTC this summer) and discussing things that we wanted to accomplish before then (getting married, dealing with some financial stuff).  Over the last 6 months, he’s gotten slowly more and more ready (and excited) and now I think he’s almost as excited as I am (which is saying something!).  We had to push back TTC a few months due to work stuff, which I’m sure also did not hurt his feeling ready.

RunnerBride13:  FX that all goes back to normal with your period!  I was also convinced that I would have issues with my cycle regulating, but it was completely normal the first cycle off BCP.

SaltedCaramel:  one of my friends offered to have her kids (one is 3.5 years old and the other is 1 year) come over when we get pregnant; she said everything her kids touch needs to be babyproofed, haha.

RunnerBride13:  I actually discovered it from someone I work with.  They mentioned something about iodine deficiency and I began researching it.  It’s extremely common and becoming more common because iodine is less available in food (and I actually live where there’s no iodine in the soil). There are more reasons for the increase in iodine deficiency but it’s a lot. I could’ve gone for testing, but the more I researched, I just wanted to try iodine, so I did and I feel like my old self!

SaltedCaramel:  I know, it’s really crazy.  I’m actually not in a therapist position right now; it’s a place I’ve wanted to work at forever (as you can see why) so I’m taking this job until there is a therapist position. It’s more of a life coach position now.  I work only 33-37 hours/week but it actually pays more than when I was a community mental health therapist working 40+ hours.  That’s awesome your mom can help out a day or so!  I think grandparents being involved is so importat; I had my grandma watch me and I have some very cherished memories of that time.

Anyone else growing more impatient as you get closer to your planned time? I’m only a few months out from TTC but it feels like time is crawling by and it’s all that I can think about! I know I should be enjoying the present but I’m so excited!

We might be pulling the goalie this month! It’s literally the only cycle we can try between now and our actual TTC date next August to give us a summer baby with enough time to recoup before school. I want to give it a shot, but I told DH that he gets to make the decision and we will go with whatever he decides. I will have an update by Sunday next week!

MissGeeBee:  YES YES YES.  We are planning to start in October due to some work stuff… but I feel like I am dying waiting for October to get here!  I just want to start yesterday.  To make it worse, DH is getting SO excited about TTC and ordered a baby book yesterday.  I am so psyched that he is so excited, but it’s not helping me wait calmly.    We are waiting due to some work stuff so October is really the earliest we can start.  One more cycle after this one (I have shortish cycles) to get through…. In October I don’t O until later in the month so even though it’s around the corner, it still feels like a long wait!

mrsdfarrar6714:  That is so exciting!! Good luck!

I’ve always had this February idea in my mind, with DH kind of on board with it. Well, now he’s actually given a firm yes on the matter but the closer it gets the more I waver. I go from super duper excited and impatient to freaking out over the thought of our lives changing so much. I think, I know I’ve got all this time until February but then I also think Omg, February is too close. AHHH!

LiliKitty:  I’m doing the same thing!  DH has suggested that he could be ready a week or 2 after his birthday (which is in the first week of Oct), and I’m still see-sawing between ZOMG YAY and HOLY CRAP NO I’M NOT READY.  I’m sure at least part of it is because SIL has a 1 month old ATM, and hearing about her sleepless nights and projectile vomitting and how she’s only left the house for dr appts.  I keep thinking to myself, do I really want to go through that next year?  Maybe I need another year…..
