RunnerBride13:  Thanks!  It’s been a warm welcome on this thread!

We’re doing 5 days in Punta Cana and then a week in Banff, skiing.  πŸ™‚

Mrs. Coyote: Krispi: UsagiTsukino:  RunnerBride13:     I also like to lean on others so I feel like I would be comfortable letting people know what happened if that were the case.  My preference would not be to tell the entire extended family at Thanksgiving, but we are spending 3 solid days with them and there’s always drinking involved… I feel like it would be so hard to hide.  Of course, this is if all goes perfectly right away, so I may not have to worry about this!  Even if we did share with extended family, we would definitely keep it off of social media/not share with work/etc for the first tri.

sostobe:  Welcome!  We did something similar for our honeymoon, though split into two separate trips… 6 days in Turks and Caicos right after the wedding, and then a week skiing at Whistler a few months later.  Both parts were awesome!

RunnerBride13:  I started charting the first day of my period, but if I were you I’d start charting the first day of placebo pills. Why not, right?

RunnerBride13:  Hey, I was missed in the last list πŸ™‚ I brought up TTC to Darling Husband this week, and he was really hesitatnt to start right away. we live in a house he hates (that he bought by himself without my input when we were very newly dating) and he wants to move before we have a baby. He’s been trying to move for 5 years and it hasnt happened yet, so I told him thats not fair… so still no definite answer. I’m going to say we’ll TTC in Feb 2015 unless I can talk him into trying sooner.

RunnerBride13:  Totally understandable. I use Glow, but really charting is charting, spikes are spikes, dips are dips, yada yada. Haha. I think it should be just fine. Someone correct me if I’m wrong!

RunnerBride13:  We have one! And we have been! For 5 LOOOOOOOONG years! Darling Husband has a very specific wish list (I’m not too picky, just dont want to have to do another entire house renovation again) and a fairly snug budget, so there are very few houses that fit our criteria. That’s why I say waiting to TTC until our housing is settled isnt fair, because we’re living in a decent house that he chose and it’s his picky wish list that prevents us from buying another place.

RunnerBride13:  I would just start with the placebo week; if anything it’s good practice! It will be a wonky first cycle but at least you’ll get the hang of it and hopefully see an ovulation pattern. Your second cycle will be more normal when you have your period and start on a true CD1. πŸ™‚ Just don’t take your first cycle too seriously because you won’t be starting on a real CD1 since you won’t get a period yet.

Oh and ETA, I don’t know if you normally do, but you don’t have to take your placebo pills at all because they don’t do anything. So after your last active BCP just stop all together! πŸ™‚

RunnerBride13:  I was in the same position when I stopped taking the pill with my period… I started charting on the first day that would have been a placebo day.  On a chart it ended up looking like a looooong cycle (because FF will place you in the middle of a cycle based on LMP) but eventually you’ll get your period and by then you’ll feel like you know what you’re doing more with charting.

I would just say, if you are TTA for now, use another method of birth control while you try to figure out charting.  It takes at least a few months (it was longer before I felt really confident about when I ovulate).  One of my best friends went off the pill and thought she’d just see what happened… well, she never got a period because she got pregnant right away.  So just keep in mind that that can happen!

SaltedCaramel:  That’s amazing.  Mind if I ask where you stayed on both halfs?  We haven’t booked, yet (I have to secure my vacation first – that’ll happen in October, then we can book.)

SaltedCaramel:  RunnerBride13:  I totally agree with sharing with family but not on social media. I barely even use social media to begin with, so that is not my go-to platform for sharing info like that. My motto has always been if I want you to know something, you’ll hear it from me personally.

Charliejeorge:  Oh god, are we married to the same person? My Darling Husband has made the home buying process HELL!!! He is so damn picky and about the most random things. That’s part of the reason why we just gave up and bought the land. Now he can have ALLLLLL of his must-haves. (Although now that he is seeing the breakdown of how much all of his “must-haves” cost I think he’ll be singing a different tune shortly.) πŸ˜‰ Good luck, I totally understand how you feel!
