RunnerBride13: Yup, IUI is a form of artificial insemination. It will be tough to hide all of the meds and monitoring appointments from my mom….in fact, it’s been difficult to hide all of my pre-procedure tests and appointments! But there’s no way it could happen naturally since we’re a same-sex couple. You gotta do what you gotta do!

Have you told your moms (or anyone) anything about TTC plans?

My mom and Mother-In-Law know we want kids ASAP, but that I’m in nursing school which makes it out of the question. A few of my friends know we plan to TTC next fall, but nobody knows the exact month. I’m taking prenatals (to make my hair grow lol) and am horrible about hiding them! I was afraid my dad saw them the other day, but the label was turned away so I highly doubt it!

As far as hiding it from people goes, that could be tricky. If we are successful on our first try, we would plan to announce to our families at Thanksgiving. DH’s family doesn’t drink, but mine does. That would mean that any family get together from BFP to Thanksgiving would require an excuse as to why I’m not drinking wine with my mom. Even though our families live within 30 minutes of us, we don’t see them too often so that makes it easier!

LittleRiver: Thank you, I appreciate the warm welcome.

We had never told anyone our TTC plans back in April. So it was quite the surprise when we announced in June we were pregnant. But after the MC my mom kept saying how she bet I was pregnant by Christmas again. Well I did get pregnant, but had a chemical. So I feel this pressure now to be pregnant for my family’s sake. It’s hard. Next time we will definitely keep it a secret. I don’t want the added pressure.

I’ll join if that’s ok.

Age: I’m 34

When will you TTC?: December 2014

What are you doing to get ready to TTC?: had a cervical smear, lady parts examination, full blood work, adjusted thyroxine meds. I started folic acid supplements start of October. I’ve started a healthier diet, reduced caffeine intake and stepped up my RPM classes to 4 a week. my DH is a fitness freak. I’m the weakest link in this equation :/ I’ve never used the BC pill.

Do you chart? No because this our first time TTC. If time goes on and nothing happens, maybe. I keep info on my cycles but not charts.

If you had boy and girl twins today, what would you name them?: Raphael and Lilly.

have you told anyone about your TTC plans?: Nope! That’s really private info and also creates a lot of pressure I think. We will tell immediate family after the 12 week mark.

Hi ladies,

I think I’m finally ready to join the group πŸ™‚
Age: I’m 30, he’s 28
When will you TTC?: hopefully in September, 2015
What are you doing to get ready to TTC: I have PCOS and am currently on birth control to stop cysts from forming. I will be getting off birth control in the spring in order to attempt to control the symptoms without the help of hormones. Right now I’ve been exercising and working on a healthier diet. I will begin supplements once I get off BC.
Do you chart?: I do even though I’m on the pill. Before my diagnosis I was charting religiously and I loved knowing what was happening in my body (my charts really helped the doctor diagnose me since aside from unovulatory cycles I show no other symptoms), so I continue to do it just to make sure I don’t lose the habit of taking my temperature first thing in the morning. I use the Selena app on my phone.
If you had boy and girl twins today, what would you name them?: Gabriel and Cecilia
Have you told anyone about your TTC plans?: Only my sister, but I plan on telling my best friend once we come closer to the date. Since I have PCOS and I know that it might take me longer than normal, I’d prefer to avoid the preassure from others.

RunnerBride13: Y’know I never really thought twice about your username until now. What kind of runner are you? Have you cut back on that hobby while TTC? BMI can be skewed for athletic types anyway. Have you tried to calculate your body fat percentage? Does anyone know where your body fat percentage should be for TTC? lol

In other news – I’m going to the pharmacy to pick up my first pack of prenatals after work! Woo πŸ™‚

Already ladies, I fall behind in this thread terribly, but here is a recap. I took a huge exam on Monday and passed it (PhD qualifying exam). Yey!!! It has been some crazy weeks getting ready for it hence my inactivity. So after taking a break from TTC, we decided to resume TTC this cycle. That means I am a graduate of this thread once again. Thank you so much ladies for all the chatting and company at times I was feeling like we might not TTC again for a long time. You’re awesome, and I really hope your TTC journey is short and easy. It can get bumpy at times, but I guess that’s what we sign up for. The charters thread is a great place if you want to chart which I highly recommend. The ladies there are awesome too! Best of luck to everyone. πŸ™‚

candy11: Yay! Congrats on passing the exam and good luckwith TTC!

Ladies, wow, so much has happened in the past week.

First, as I’ve said before, my BFF and her DH started trying in October. They were successful but at 5w3d she unfortunately miscarried – seems like a blighted ovum. I am sooo, sooo sad for her. They were advised to wait 3 months before trying again so she’ll be trying right when DH and I will most likely start, which will be great but it’s still depressing that she has to wait so long.

Secondly, my fertility app ended up moving my O date and it ends up DH and I dtd 5 days before O. We both realize this is a risk we take with the way we have approached me being off BC and we’re totally fine if anything comes of it. So, I’m officially in the TWW. It’s taking foreeever. I’m going to use a cheapy Walmart test Saturday at 9dpo just to see if there’s anything, but I’m really doubting I am. I have a few of them leftover from earlier this year so I’ll use another as I get closer. If I am pregnant I’m going to feel absolutely terrible telling my BFF, but we actually discussed how it could be possible the same day she told me she was pregnant.

LiliKitty: I understand those feels. I have a very close friend who is currently struggling through some infertility for over a year now. She and I went through most of the major adult milestones in our lives at the same time. I am seriously praying that we are able to get pregnant around the same time because I am very much dreading that conversation if I get pregnant before she does :/

LiliKitty: I would suggest waiting until 10DPO to test at the earliest, so Saturday morning. It’s very very rare to get a + at only 9DPO because you might not have even implanted yet, which happens between 6 and 10DPO, so there might not be any HCG to register yet anyway. You’d get a better picture at even 12 or 14 DPO or the day after your period is expected. Especially using a cheapie. FRERs are more sensitive. But good luck! I had that ooops experience in May and did end up getting a + at 14DPO. It unfortunately ended in MC but it can happen, only takes once! πŸ˜‰
