RunnerBride13: I had no idea you could get T1 as an adult until I was laying in a hospital bed in DKA! I live abroad so there’s a lot of miscommunication here so I just take insulin check my sugars and pray everything stays okay until I get home in August!
Is your husband on injections or a pump? I am lucky I think (from the little I understand) I have LADA which means I have a lot more pancreatic function then a typical type 1 but it’s slowly being destroyed by the antibodies ๐

Abouttobeemrsp: yeah it’s actually not that uncommon to be diagnosed in adulthood; we have a handful of T1 friends who were as well. My understanding is that T1 is T1, but if you’re diagnosed as an adult you may have a slightly better prognosis. That may just be because you spent less time as a diabetic though. Once you lose all insulin production, it’s all the same. My husband was on injections for about 8 years, then he switched to a pump. It cost us like $3K, but it’s much more convenient than injections. It’s also helpful to have basal insulin from the pump vs long-acting insulin injections that don’t keep your blood sugar as stable.
Janelle123: ohhhh congrats!!! Did you post any pictures?? I’ll look! Rarotonga looks amaaaaazing!!!

Could you add me to this list? ๐
Roll call info:
Age/DH’s age: We are both 27
When will you TTC?: April 2015.
What are you doing to get ready to TTC?: Taking prenatal vitamins, going off the pill (obviously). I saw my doctor and they did a rubella immunization test and gave me a tdap vaccine. I have also started exercising more regularly and eating more protein…I don’t really like protein.
Do you chart? I am finishing my last non sugar pill Friday, so I am planning on charting as soon as I get CD1.
When do you daydream most about babies: It can happen pretty much any time, but even more when I am driving.

Roll call info:
Age/DH’s age: 34/33
When will you TTC?: Hopefully July 2015.
What are you doing to get ready to TTC?: Taking prenatal vitamins. We had a late term loss in December, so I need to undergo a cerclage before I feel comfortable TTC again.
Do you chart? Only periods right now but will do temping/CM checks when we start TTC.
When do you daydream most about babies: Still thinking about my LO that I lost. ๐ But hopeful that surgery will help me bring a rainbow baby to term.
