I guess I can be officially moved from August 2014 – Early 2015.  DH has been given word that the military is officially extending his tour.  DH is really wanting a baby so I think he is taking a bit harder than me.  However, I told him I didn’t want to NTNP or TTC unless I knew he could be around for the birth.  And this might sound dumb, but I want a real nursery for my baby. I don’t want to set up a nursery then move thousands of miles away.  I feel like that’s a silly reason considering the lifestyle of the military, but I know I can have it all if I wait until early 2015.  So I’m waiting.

@future_mrs_s:  I never thought about it, but you’re right. By this time next year, we should be TTC and maybe even expecting!

@RedPandas:  I just noticed that you two recently got off hormonal BC in the past few months. How have you been feeling so far? Any crazy side effects from coming off it? I have officially begun my first cycle off BC today and from what I have read online so far I am a bit scared of what will happen to my body as it tries to go back to natural hormone levels.

Over all the side effects haven’t been too crazy, but I’ve noticed that my body seems off. It’s not anything major, I think I’m just pretty in tune with my body so I notice little things.

For example, I used to get EWCM when I was ovulating. These 5 months off the pill so far I haven’t had any, which is kinda strange for me. I’ve also have more cramping than when I was on the pill, but I think that’s normal for me, it’s just a matter of getting used to it again. My cycles are also somewhat wonky. The first two cycles off were 32 days long and then the third one was over 40, I was starting to wonder if I was pregnant.. but I was just late! Now I’m back to around 32 day cycles for the last two cycles.

Gah! Friend just posted a video of her almost 3 year old with her month old baby sister – asking her daddy for a ‘sister boy baby’ please! Too adorable!! And not helping with the baby fever at all!!!!

@emsy3110:  You didn’t specifically ask me, but I figured you wouldn’t mind my input 🙂 I went off hormonal BC in July, and while I did start ovulating right away (I chart to track ovulation), my cycles were really different than before I went on the pill.  My period was really, really light, and I was having very few symptoms (if I didn’t know it was unusual for me, it would actually be really nice!).  But it seems this month, things might finally be returning to normal.  My PMS symptoms really surprised me this month – I actually thought I might be pregnant! I was nauseated, crampy, tired, and had sore boobs for about a week leading up to my period, and it’s been a lot heavier than the last few months.  This month could possibly be a weird fluke, but remembering what my periods were like 9 years ago (when I went on the pill), I think this is actually a return to what my cycle used to be like.

@SadieBee:  Thank you both for your replies! It encourages me to see that it hasn’t been that bad of an experience for you so far. I guess my biggest fear is having bad breakouts because I had to deal with that when I was younger and I definitely do not want to deal with that again at 28. Also never knowing when you will get your period will be annoying too… it was so nice to know that every 4th Friday monrning I would get it haha! I have a feeling I will think I’m pregnant if my cycle is really long!

Actually I have been having bad breakouts Frown I forgot that part lol. I feel like I am 15 years old.. it’s pretty bad. I just bought this blue light therapy for acne though and I feel like it is working well! I’ve only been using it for 4 days and it’s already improving. I am kinda skeptical though, because it seems strange to me that this would work! But I can return it within 90 days if I don’t like the results. If you get breakouts too it’s worth a shot! Other bees earlier this week were talking about taking a zinc/copper supplement for acne too.

@RedPandas:  Okay thank you for the info! After how many days/weeks did you start getting breakouts? I already have a very good skin regimen and I have been doing microdermabraison lately so I’m hoping it helps.

I started having problem skin about a month after stopping the pill. So probably my 2nd cycle out. I have acne all the time with flare ups around my period. But it’s on m shoulders, neck, face, and a bit on my chest.

My mom always had acne too. Hers only stopped when she had a baby and then it stayed away too. I’m hoping that works for me too haha, I’ll have to wait a bit though!

Hopefully your routine helps! I was being really good about taking care of my skin too but it didn’t seem to help me much!

This is interesting… I am debating when to go off the pill.  Thinking of going off in a few weeks when I finish the last pack of BC I have, but… it’s so scary!  I am nervous about how I will feel, acne, and about getting PG before we plan to… planning to try in June or so, but don’t really want it to happen before then.  I am thinking of charting (first to avoid, then when TTC) but it just seems nerve-wracking!  I also don’t know anyone IRL who is charting, and my friends all think it’s a crazy idea.

But then, I know that it may take a bit for my cycles to regulate, which would point to doing it sooner rather than later.  Ack.  Sealed

@Almost Mrs.P:  We’ve been charting to avoid since our wedding last September.  So over a year successfully with no problems at all.  It’s really not hard!  We got the Natural Family Planning lecture at our marriage prep (Catholic wedding) and I originally told my husband that there was NO WAY I was going that route.  I imagined us accidentally getting pregnant right away. But I looked into it a bit more and decided to give it a try. So glad I did.  Will never use another form of birth control again.

I highly recommend getting a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility before you give it a try.  It was a great source of information.

@mkat37:  Thanks for the suggestion!  I have TCOYF but have not read the whole thing.  This morning I read the chapters on charting as BC and feel much better.  I think I’m going to go ahead and stop BCP after my next pack… which starts tomorrow.  Laughing

@Almost Mrs.P:  I’m also charting to avoid right now, and we’ve decided this is what we’ll do between kids too. It’s really refreshing to be in-tune with your body and, well, take charge of your fertility (as cheesy as it sounds)!  If you’re really nervous about getting PG before you’re ready to TTC, I’d just chart and abstain when you’re having fertile signs.  For us, we’re comfortable with the risks of a condom mishap, so we just use them until I’ve confirmed ovulation.
