@SadieBee: Thanks. I am feeling much better about being able to figure it out after reading the TTA chapters in TCOYF. I am comfortable with condoms too, so I think we will do that– Darling Husband and I also talked about it again today and will plan to use condoms for the first couple of months while I am figuring out what’s going on. I agree with you, it seems like it would be so refreshing to know what’s happening with your body. Science is so cool!

@Almost Mrs.P: @SadieBee: I didn’t know that charting to avoid TTC actually works. I’ll have to look into it. Darling Husband and I will be relying on condoms for now. We bought a box of condoms for the first time in years this week and we both felt like teenagers feeling embarrassed about buying them lol!

@emsy3110: Well, more knowing when you are fertile and then either using a barrier method or abstaining during that window. I actually just read a funny anecdote in TCOYF where one couple thought that the act of writing down temps/symptoms was birth control… lol!

@emsy3110: Yeah, like @Almost Mrs.P said, the key is knowing when you’re fertile – which is the entire point of charting 🙂 If you know when you’re fertile, you can use necessary measures to avoid getting pregnant (which for us means using condoms during that time). I’m also loving that I feel like it gives me a bit of a head-start when we do start TTC – I know when I’m ovulating, so I know when we should be having sex if we want to make a baby!
Darling Husband and I are used to condoms, since we’ve always been pretty paranoid about avoiding an unplanned pregnancy (so we used them even when I was on the pill), but I get you on the embarassment! I feel the same way about pregnancy tests – I bought a box at CVS awhile ago, and I felt like I needed to flash my wedding rings around so they wouldn’t assume I was some teenager worried about being knocked up (which is silly for many reasons, the biggest being that I think I could actually still be mistaken for a teenager!)

@SadieBee: haha yeah I know what you mean I made my ring very obvious while buying the box of condoms lol!
@Almost Mrs.P: @SadieBee: Charting seems a bit overwhelming right now but I think I’ll definitely look into it to try to understand when I’m fertile.

@HawaiiBamaBride: Aww, those are very cute ways to announce!
@emsy3110: This is my first month off BC also! I’m anxious to see how my body reacts.. and you made me laugh about buying the condoms – I know what you mean!
Darling Husband and I had a chat the other night about babies… 🙂 I’m officially off BC as of last Friday and AF is here, so I’m anxious to see what happens next! I appreciate hearing about how other bee’s bodies reacted to going off BC and will be sure to share how mine reacts. We’ve decided to NTNP in November/December, and then TTC starting in January – pretty crazy to think that there’s the potential for pregnancy so soon!!

@E_Lynne615: You’ll definitely have to keep me updated on how your body is reacting. I have been off the pill for 9 days now and I feel good so far.. but I’m assuming that the bad side effects won’t come for another few weeks.

Still twiddling our fingers over here, waiting till we can close on the house. Had an issue where a neighbors fence is on our propety and that needs to be fixed before we can close.
Applied for a new job – I know the woman doing the interviews from aprevious job, and she told me that I would definitly be hearing from her. They are accepting application through today – so hopefully I will hear about an internew by the end of the week.
I would love this position – more money, and about a mile away from the house we are buying – but it may mean pushing back our TTC date depending on health insurance and everything. I wouldn’t want to look bad by needing to take maternity leave so soon….who knows.
First snow of the season today too! Just flurries but it made me happy 😀

Oh, you guys…
I just had a text flurry from a good work friend of mine. Apparently the scuttlebutt around the office is that a new outreach position is being created due to a new grant the university received, and they’re (essentially) giving the position to me. Which is great, because I’d love the salary and the bennies and the perks of being an outreach liason…but the position starts in June and if we conceive right away after the wedding, I’d be due in September (prime outreach season).
I know that this isn’t anything that I should even consider stressing about, but it’s like…yay awesome career move, boo for maybe pushing back TTC. Well, crap. Now my brain is full of all the things.
@b00kbug: Lucky duck. We don’t typically get snow here, but I wouldn’t mind a flurry or two this season.

When will you TTC?: This month! November!
What are you doing to get ready to TTC?: I have been off birth control for 6 months, and I have been taking prenatal vitamins for almost a year. Eatting better and got a personal trainer.
Do you chart? Link to the chart: Not exactly, I have a phone app and ovulation sticks and I pay attention to CM.
All time favourite movie?: Probably something like “Fried Green Tomatoes” Or “When Harry Met Sally”… something I can watch a million times.

@Sugar_and_Spice: Ugh, I hate when my brain gets full of all the things.. 🙁 Well, as my mom says, “Don’t borrow trouble.” No use worrying about it until you know something either way! I know, easier said than done!
@SweetartMD: Ha! I was going to wish you luck with your first month TTC but then I recognized your picture and realized you’ve already posted your BFP! Very exciting!! Hope to see you over on the pregnancy boards sometime in the next couple of months… 🙂

@E_Lynne615: Haha, thanks! You can tell that it was sudden, hu? LOL!

Hi girls I’ve been MIA from wedding bee since the wedding so I’m happy for a reason to be back here more! We are still in line for TTC January 2014 & just thinking about it being 2 months out gives me butterflies 🙂 I hope my new hubby doesn’t have any second thoughts… just the other day he was talking about car seats while we were cuddling in bed so I’m hoping things stay this way!
As an update I’ve been off BC now for almost 3 months woo! I’m seeing my doctor next week to make sure everything is good (I have a chronic autoimmune disease) & to ask some pre-conception questions. I’ve also now been doing some minimal charting, just cervical mucus basically since I find mine very easy to read. If all goes as planned I’ll be ovulating around January 25th & I loved for it to happen then (I know wishful thinking but gotta stay positive!)
Favorite movies – Practical Magic, Knocked Up, & Water for Elephants 🙂

@fridaythe13bride: Hi welcome back! I was just looking at possible ovulation dates in January (but I just guessed since I am irregular) and gues what, it said I can test on my bday (at 4 weeks). I was joking the other day that it will be nice to get BFP as my gift. lol! I hope that’s a sign.

So soon for you ladies! Eeeeek!
I have 2 more weeks of BCP, and not refilling. So excited to start charting! We are car shopping right now, looking at small SUVs, and planning to have this car for a long time. (I’ve had my current car for over 11 years) DH made a comment the other night about wanting to make sure that whatever we get will be good when we have kids. Granted, we’ve had plenty of conversations about TTC in the spring/summer, so not like this was out of the blue, but it cracked me up since usually I’m the one talking about babies 24/7!
