I’ve posted my story a few times on different threads, but thought i’d add my name to the waiting list…
My boyfriend (whom we shall call D) and I have been dating for 2 years & 2 months. We bought a ring about 5 months into the relationship as we both knew we wanted to be together forever… Needless to say, we didn’t get engaged then because we knew it was too early & wanted to wait a while. So my gorgeous ring has been sitting in its little box all alone in my boyfriends’ sneaker at the back of the cupboard since then!!! (I sneak a look at it every now & then 1) to make sure it still fits 2) to remind myself how pretty it is).
My sister got engaged in December (like, exactly 1 month before our 2 year anniversary!!!) To be honest, I was slightly upset… but hey, what could I do?
Along came our 2 year anniversary & D was sending me all kinds of signals…. Playing with my ring finger, saying how much fun we’re going to have on our holiday during our anniversary… So I really thought it was going to happen then. So our holiday & anniversary came & went… NO RING…. When we got home we had a sort of emotional conversation about what I thought was going to happen… He apparently didn’t know he was sending me signals… He said it WAS going to happen on our holiday but my sister’s engagment kinda messed that plan up. (More upset now that she got engaged & ruined my holiday)…
So now I am still waiting, with no idea when or where its going to happen…
Patience is a virtue right…?

Omg I know how you feel!!! It took me forever to get engaged. Like basically, 7 years!!! Then when he proposed he was nervous about the “right atmosphere” I saw him pull something out but put it back in. Can you say ANGRY! Then when we got home I just had a breakdown and asked why he didn’t finish his obvious proposala and he explained, appologized and then finished his proposal.
How is a guy worried about the perfect sunset? The perfect moment! He said the day was too cloudy so he thought it was all wrong. Haha!
Well when it finally happens all will be perfect!

@adw2c: The irritating thing is, whenever there’s a pretty sunset or a bright full moon, I’m always say “Wow that looks so amazing today!!” And he’s like “meh wotever”… And sometimes he takes me on spontaneous trips… We’d be sitting at home thinking what to do about dinner, then half an hour later he’ll tell me to put some clothes on (wearing pjs) and he got his keys & wallet and said “k, lets go”. I always have it at the back of my mind – this could be it… but then I’m always left disappointed… Sigh… but there is nothing I can do but wait… Lets hope I dont have to wait too much longer. Also its hard with my sister being engaged. I think he might wait until after her wedding (25th June) to do it… greeeeeeeeeeeeeat

Well, I know it sucks to wait for such things, especially if you have the reminder of a family weding coming up, but at least I can offer this hollow comfort that if he DOES wait till after the wedding, people won’t be split in ther attentions between your engagement and your sister’s wedding – in fact, while this might sound crazy, if he’d done right around the same time as your sister, people might have gotten confused as to whether you both were engaged, and you might have even been talked into sharing a wedding. So, at least when your times comes, it’ll be your time with no other distractions. I’m sure it’ll be sooner than you think.

@Isilme: That has definately entered my mind for sure! There are times where I want it to happen after her wedding so all the attention will then be on me 😀 Had a thought the other day…. our 2 years 6 month anniversary is the month after her wedding…. soooooooo… fingers crossed!!!!!
