I LOVE Pachelbel’s Canon in D. It’s one of my favorite classical songs. I have ten or so different versions of it on my ipod. This morning, my fiance told me the song reminds him of an alcohol treatment center TV commercial he heard a lot when he was younger. I really wanted to walk down the aisle to that song but don’t really want him to be thinking of that commercial as I’m walking down the aisle 🙁 We’re having a harp and piano so it would sound really beautiful. I’m pretty bummed about this. Any suggestions for another traditional, classical song to use? (Already using Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring for the entrance of the bridal party).

This was ours and it was perfect… brings tears to my eyes since the first time I heard it:

I also love Canon in D, and it has a very special place in my heart, but I couldn’t bring myself to include it in our ceremony because it is so ubiquitous these days and I pretty much feel like everyone is royally sick of it! I dabble in classical music geekery, having played in orchestra for years, and I’m in love with a passage from Holst’s Jupiter which I will be asking our musicians to play for my procession down the aisle. It’s the bit that begins at 2:54 here. It’s not traditional wedding music, meaning I’ll probably have to pay extra for them to learn it, but it is gorgeous and very meaningful to me as we played that piece when I was in college.

My brother is playing acoustic guitar for us, and I will be walking to Blackbird by the Beatles. A very special song for me and my fiance.

I also enjoyed Air on G by Bach.
We are using completely untraditional music, with traditional sound. I am walking down to “River Flows in You” by Yiruma.

I love Canon in D too. I am entering to Trumpet Voluntary, which is also uber traditional.

Oh, I forgot about “The Prayer.” I really like that song too! I need to incorporate that somehow. Thanks!
Hmm, Air is a good possibility, too. Thanks!

I’m thinking of walking down to James Taylor’s “Something in the Way She Moves”

@Mermaid1082: I’m walking down to Trumpet Voluntary too! Our church is massive with a huge balcony. I’m having 2 herald trumpets play the intro then the organ (it’s massive too of course) play me in.
I suggest getting on YouTube and typing in “Canon in D” then see what comes up in the sidebar of similar entries. That’s how I found all of my ceremony music. 🙂
