We are thinking of walking down the aisle as a couple instead of having my dad walk me down. We would have both our parent walk down together and all of the bridal party is married to eachother too. As a guest how would you like this? Is it a good idea?

Wow, that’s handy that your bridal party is married to each other! I think this is a sweet idea. I went to a wedding for two friends a few years back who walked in together, and it was really nice. She had quite a way to walk (down stairs and outside too) so I’m sure she was glad to have her FH beside her! I think if it suits you as a couple and is what you want, your guests will get it.

As a guest, I would be like “Uhh, hmm… That’s different.” I don’t think it’s an awful idea. I just like the moment where everyone stands and the bride makes the slow walk up by herself or with a parent.

FI and I are walking in together. We’re both older and feel it suits our relationship better. For us, it symbolizes our promise to walk together in life, holding each other’s hands, and moving forward as true partners.

@Little_Nut88: we really lucked out that we loved all our friends and their partners. He loves my BIL and I adore his FSIL. Everyone will be together all morning so it’s not really a need for the first look reaction. I really like having him walk with me since I have bad anxiety and it would help.
@sweetbutdemanding: would having me standing by myself when the doors open and then have him meet me right at the edge of where the stairs start for us to walk together be better so you as a guest have more time to take it in better?

I think it’s sweet 🙂 My friends did this … but it’s standard at a Quaker wedding! The only thing I miss is seeing the groom’s face when he sees the bride for the first time… love that part!

I am envisioning you at the top of a flight of stairs and him waiting at the bottom, is that right? If so, I think it’s a great idea!

I walked half way with my parents then my hubby came to get me and we continued to the altar together. I loved being able to have the best of both worlds and walking up as a couple. I say definitely go for it! 🙂
