I don’t like curls, waves or updos and I want to look more “me” for our wedding. So I’m considering leaving my hair down and straight. Are there any other brides who did this? I’ve tried searching through Pinterest, Google, and the Hive itself and half the pictures that come up still include updos or waves.
Plus, I’m not wearing a veil. My dress is tulle and including the veil on my 5’0″ frame was way too overwhelming. This is what I’ll be doing instead, via Etsy:

I think it will be beautiful and if it fits you, that’s a bonus!

I think that’s fine! I’d also like to leave my natural hair alone for the wedding, and I think adding a headpiece like yours instead of a veil will add plenty of “bridal” interest.

I personally had curls, but I don’t see anything wrong with straight. I say go for it!

My sister wore her hair down and straight for her wedding, the same way she does every day. Wear it the way you feel most beautiful!

The straight hair is a wonderful idea! But if your wedding is in August it will most likely be muggy/humid, I highly recommend getting a keratin treatment/smoothing treatment.

Your hair will look gorgeous. I agree with pp regarding keratin treatment 🙌🏻

It’s hugely frustrating that bridal hair = curls. Why???? Says who?? Don’t listen to the Pinterest!
How amazing does she look?????
As others said, take care of the health of your hair and perhaps get some lovely treatments.

Ahh thanks all 🙂 And I’m seriously trying to avoid fancy do’s because we’re going to be on an island and there’s no freaking way i’d want to spend the day combating the humidity with my hair.

I feel your pain. One of my BMs has the most gorgeous thick, glossy hair… but it wouldn’t hold a curl or updo if her life depended on it! Took me forever to find a style she might be able to wear! (We’ve decided on down with a braid crown)
I think that hair piece is gorgeous and will look lovely with your hair down 🙂 the important thing is that you’re comfortable <3

I have naturally curly hair, and have always wanted straight hair! I LOVE straight bridal hair- I think it’s so beautiful!

Straight hair all the way! I do love a bit of wave but my hair doesn’t hold it well, it’s very stubborn. An updo won’t work either, it will slide right out and give me a headache. If possible I’ll work a little volume in at the root so that it doesn’t stay flat, but I definitely want to rock my straight locks on my wedding day. Do it!

I wound up wearing my hair mostly straight and all down for our wedding. I had intended to do some loose waves and wear it down, but the day was so freakishly humid that all the hairspray in the world would not keep the waves in place. By the time the ceremony started there was a very slight bend in my hair but otherwise it was straight. I actually really liked the look. Plus, it gave me a chance to show off the hair I had been growing out for the better part of three years!
