I have a sheath dress (also with a silk underlay) and a small train…. I’m opting to wear the highest heels I can comfortably walk in and giving myself extra time to totter around at a more lady like pace than usual.

I wouldn’t put a hoop with that (beautiful) dress.  Once your dress is hemmed to fit you it will be fine to walk in.  I’m also going to wear a light slip under my dress so nothing should get between my legs!

I tried on this dress!  In the store it was recommended that I purchase a slip, so I tried the dress on with the most simple slip possible they had at DB – because I didn’t want to alter the look of the dress either – and it seemed to do the trick.  Or as far as I could tell walking around the store, so this recommendation should be taken with a very large grain of salt.

My first wedding was in a sheath lace gown. I actually wore a stiff short slip skirt (lycra blend) and it worked incredibly well.

I wore a lace sheath with a silk underlay and walked around fine with 4 inch heels.

I think because it’s flowy, the motion from walking actually moves the fabric out of the way instead of in between your legs?  I did not wear a slip and had no problems whatsoever.

I’d go with a non-cotton slip actually – just because i think friction against cotton might work against you

No hoop! That would change the look and feel of the dress! I would definitely say, if anything a slip should help. When you go for a fitting, walk around and see if it is an issue.

I had a sheath dress and once it was fitted to me it was pretty tight through my hips and upper thighs… basically it had nowhere to go so getting it caught between my upper legs wasnt an issue. I am 5’6″ and I wore 2.5″ heels and had no problems at all. I just pulled it up when i was walking (even with it bustled it still kind of caught around my feet, but when I was dancing or swaying it really wasn’t an issue at all). Good luck!
