I’m trying to decide on what to do with my reception tables. I’ve toyed with the idea of making cloth table runners but I also want something unique and easy to do and low cost. Has anyone used wallpaper for their table runners? If you have, how does it hang on the table? Is it stiff and weird looking?

I’ve seen brown craft paper used which would be cheap/easy but it’d need to go with your overall look.
I’m making fabric ones and got a good deal on fabric at Joanns but i haven’t made them yet so i hope its not too hard.
Based on the wallpaper I just pulled off the walls in our house… i think it would hang okay but might roll up on the ends.

Danni32388: I think wall paper is a great look but you will need to unroll it ahead of time, measure and cut to length then leave it laying flat so it doesn’t curl up on the ends. When it’s time to take it to the venue, roll it in large loose rolls. When you put itin place, you can hot glue metal washers on the back to keep it hanging straight.

Danni32388: amberback: Making cloth runners is not hard at all, so if you find a fabric you LOVE, go for it. I can hand-sew like a pro, but I’m terrified of sewing machines so I was nervous about making table runners for my cousin’s bridal shower earlier this summer. My saving grace was that double-sided hem tape (the heat activated kind). After measuring and cutting the fabric, it only took me about 1 hour to iron the edges on 6 runners (6 and 8 feet long). The photo below shows only 3 of the runners (the others were used inside):

Danni32388: I believe that Martha Stewart had a post on this sometime ago -if it’s good enough for Martha, I think you’ll be fine 😉

Miss-Mauverick: Thanks! That hem tape was my plan… but my mom keeps talking about sewing machines. lol. I hope she plans on doing the sewing if that’s how she wants them done! I have a grey/white cheveron patterned fabric but it’s much much smaller than the 1 you posted (yours look gorgeous!) I just hope it’s not too small and still stands out enough – i want soft/romatic so hopefully the smaller chevron fits with that.
