Okay Fiance is ALREADY talking about our registry (what we want to add and where we want to have them) I chose bed bath and beyond (for the home type stuff- which is only bedroom stuff actually) and he chose Best Buy… I told him to aim lower (our friends don’t have much money, ever… and most of them are younger than us… 19-23, were both 25) So I told him pick Target or Walmart because they have the same 3 things you want from Best Buy anyway and if your lucky maybe a relative will buy them! =D
So I started thinking about it and I really don’t know which we should choose… I DEFINITELY like Walmart MUCH better but I need someone elses opinion because I’m not the one that has to shop there my quests are… Thanks Bees!

I don’t know anything about Walmart registries but I haven’t heard a lot of good things about Target registries. Try searching on here for other threads because I know I’ve seen other topics about Target. I heard that their return policy isn’t that great and whatnot.

I don’t live near any Walmarts. The neighborhoods here banned together and kept them out. But funnily enough, no protest about Target.
I’ve been to Walmart before, and they just seem a little lower quality than Target but maybe that’s just bias.

If you like Walmart better, then go with Walmart. You and your Fiance are the ones who will be using the stuff anyway. And a Rival Crock-Pot is the same whether you get it at Walmart or at Target.
The other thing you might want to consider is your guests. If your guests are like me, they can order just as easily online from either. But a lot of older people aren’t comfortable with that. Do more of them live near a Walmart or near a Target? Where I live, there are plenty of both around, but in some more rural areas that might not be the case. I think there are more than twice as many Walmarts nationwide as there are Targets.

I think Wal Mart is good for electronics… though I haven’t bought any from there. I chose Target because I LOVE Target and go there constantly. But that is before I saw that you prefer Wal Mart, if that’s what you prefer then do that. I have heard great things about Target registries.. nothing bad, so I’m not sure about that. But I definitely love their products better than Wal Mart.

Go with whichever you like best! However, I have heard not so great things about Target’s Registries. My SIL was registered with them for her wedding and she said the return policy was horrible and it ended up being a huge hassle.

@Neva: indeed we have 2 walmarts and 2 targets within 20 miles of 98% of my guests hehe
@kperry3: Your right Walmart has amazing electronics. My Fiance actually just checked and Walmart has the camera he wants, Target does not. It looks like were currently leaning towards Walmart as of this moment.
@Treasure43: Thanks for the heads up! I don’t want to be treated badly by a store I don’t even like lol.
Walmart is also less expensive and offers more variety… thats why I love it, they have everything lol

My Future Sister-In-Law said the same as you – she had younger people coming to her wedding and didn’t want to put a financial burden on them. Now, six years later, she’s wishing she registered for some nicer things, say at Macy’s or whatnot. You’d be surprised at what people will buy for you….

@med700: We don’t need anything though were mostly planning to register for a few electronics (camera/ small ipod/ect.), dvd’s and a bike rack for our honeymoon lol. They have all that at Walmart… all the bedroom stuff… wall decor and bedroom set will be from bed bath and beyond

We registered at Target over Walmart only because they are the closest store to many of our guests…
I’ve had other family members around the country use Walmart though and I haven’t heard any complaints.
So far, I don’t really have any for Target but it’s still pretty early in the game 🙂
Good luck!

We had lots of trouble trying to register at Walmart. Apparently most of them have taken scanners out of the store (like bed bath and beyond has) and you have to do an online registry instead. This was difficult because a lot of the things we wanted to register for at walmart (think yard stuff like water hoses, shovels, etc) are very limited online. It has an option online to see items in a particular walmart store and even when we had been there and saw an entire row of water hoses, it would show maybe one option online that it said was in that store. And apparently, according to their online registry, they had zero shovels…even though we saw them in the store. It was really frustrating!
On the other hand, I’ve heard people having lots of trouble taking things back to Target that were from their registry. I would just make sure you know their policy. I also feel Target has much nicer products than Walmart.
And I agree with some above posters about also registering at a nicer place like Dillards/Macy’s. It doesn’t hurt to ask for something you really want; you never know what someone might decide to buy you!
