I mean, it’s a lot of ring, to paraphrase Tim Gunn.  But if you want bigger, go bigger.  If you want higher, go higher.  I don’t think it’s going to look great, either bigger or higher, because it’s very proportional right now, but heck, girl- you do you!  Is it a peg head?  If it’s not, your kinda SOL and will need a whole new ring.  I mean, really, who cares WHY you want it, you want it, it’s yours, go for it.

That is quite a ring. The fact that you want to raise the stone means that you are not happy with the placement. Like I said, “Maybe you don’t like the setting?”

sparklebeeesq :  oh i just saw this reply! correct i SHOULDVE gone for the basket on TOP, however, the picture that was on the website showed  very straight elongated prongs which stood out beautifully with the pear example. but the finished product had CURVED shorter prongs. and its not cost effective for me to change the setting completely 🙁

i do like the way your comes out though. I have inquired with the online jewler where i bought it, and let them know their picture is more like what i expected.

Thank you for your input. here is a pic of THEIR misleading picture LOL

merrymargaret :  i believe she had the setting custom made, so she obviously likes it, she just wants the center stone to have more presence

bbpear74 :  if they mislead you you should press them to fix it. I like the prongs on yours actually more than the last pic you posted. Just the placement of the head seems to be the issue for you. Your prongs are much more aesthetic. I don’t like the square prongs on the James Allen ring.  I had those prongs on an old ring e-ring (past engagement) and they seemed so structural looking. I love your ring much more than the James Allen model. If they elongate the prongs as is you’ll have dead space under. So I’d press then to do. It if it bugs you. But between yours and the James Allen model, i would stick with yours!

juliensmommy :  I have a design background. Trust me creating something and liking it do not go hand in hand. Personal style changes with time.
