@LauraRose:  I strassed my wedding shoes so I would recommend dreamtimecreations.com for purchasing swarovski crystals.  They had the best price and selection for what I wanted.  As far as applying to your dress I would be a bit hesitant with that because of the fabric.  There are also 2 ways to apply crystals, regular (flatback) and hotfix, regular is you either place down glue and then the crystal or put glue on the crystal and place on the fabric.  Hotfix is where there is already a type of glue on the back of the crystal so you lay them out and then apply heat and they are supposed to stick.  I have heard of people using hotfix though and applying the traditional way.  My advice would be consult someone that knows fabric and glue.  Also maybe try a area that you won’t see incase something doesn’t work out.  In that case to test I wouldn’t necessarily buy crystals in bulk maybe just use a coupon for michaels first.

Good luck!

I also bought my swarovski crystals from dreamtime (just a tip you can usually find coupons discounts online for them if you google around). Mine were sew-on though – I didnt want to use any type of glue on my dress. My dress already had a rhinestone pattern on it and I bought the same size/style of rhinestones to fill the pattern in more. If you show a picture of what it looks like now people can probably offer more suggestions. There are also beaded or rhinestone appliques that may work as an option too.

I bought some swarovki crystals for my dress at Hobby Lobby I bought The largest round ones and some smaller round crystals, they only have a few options so I didn’t really go on size. I used some fabric glue (at Walmart) to glue them where I wanted. They say to iron them on but I did not want to chance messing up my dress. I glued them and did not touch them for like 2wks, just in case! I also used them to make a headband, that I eventually ironed because the movement of the ribbon made them come loose. Good luck! It was def worth the time to had the bling!I’ll post a pic.best pic I could get of it.

@LauraRose:  Considering adding some embellishment to my gown, also. What have you done or decided to do?

@VirginiaR:  That’s the look I want on my entire dress. What size crystals did you use? What type glue? Are there sew-ons? Think I’d feel better about having my seamstress do it for me.

Oh I bought mine from fire mountain gems and beads and they were SS12, SS16 and SS34 . I bought them to see the sizes and color, before I buy in bulk (:

I bought crystal clear and crystal AB but I liked crystal clear the most. I used those for my DIY veil and it’s not finished yet and I’m loving it! It sparkles like you have no idea! (:

Im buying a bulk of SS12 for my gown too(:

That is a great project and it came out amazing. Rhinestones can help customize or put your own touch on any item. Thanks for sharing this great project!
