I’m trying to find out about pricing for my invites but am stuck with where to start….ideally i want a baby photo of me and Fiance on the front, with the printed invite inside and with an insert with the wedding details……
….can anyone point me in the direction of doing this cheaply……?? Has anyone managed to do something similar but on their own?
Thank you xx

I made my own invites and for inspiration I probably visited 50 invitation websites and was finally able to start a “mock-up” of all the things I wanted in my invitiation (belly band or no belly band? pockets or no pockets? maps? etc) I was able to “create” my own unique invitation with a smorgasbord of things I liked the best.
I would start with a list of what you think of / visualize when you think of the “perfect” wedding invitation. Then add on to that and build your ideal invitation.

I probably designed about 5 prototypes of our invite (all really different from each other) before Darling Husband and I decided on which one we liked best. From there we tweaked and played with it to develop it into something we loved.
Honestly, scour google images, wedding paper divas, the DIY section and gallery here on WB. There are a few “show me your invite” threads too, so search the boards too! Once you have some inspiration just start throwing things together and see what works and what doesn’t! It was very trial and error for me.

You can definitely do this cheaply, so long as you watch the sales at your local craft store. It sounds like you want a folded invite with a pocket. This is easy to make using 12×12 cardstock and 8.5×11 cardstock, and should run you about $1 each on sale. I made a sample (see pictures below). Let me know if you want the specific measurements of the pieces. Hope this helps!

Thank you to all 3 of you…i’ve now been scouring google images for inspiration and writing a list has totally helped!
Yours loook absolutely fantastic!! they look seriously professional and that is exactly the type of thing i’ve been envisaging. So here come the stupid questions….
1. Did you just buy you own card and fold it or did you buy folded cards?
2. Did you buy proper inserts of just use the same card?
3. Did you need to buy any professional ‘instruments’ to cut/shape your card?
4. How are you doing your printing?
