Why not do a marble with a bit of a chocolate filling, or it could be a white cake with a chocolate filling.  Your main chocolate has a raspberry filling which is a strong flavor (albeit wonderful!), so it wouldn’t taste the same as a white with chocolate or a marble.

Hope that helps!

Hey, do whatever you like–I think the Naked Lady should be there! It’s your wedding! 🙂

That being said… what if it was a little bit different flavor-wise, like a Red Velvet cake, or only half chocolate? That might be a better compromise.

I want to do an ice cream cake for Fiance. They are his absolute fave thing, and I know he would be so surprised and excited!!! Guess you can’t really shape an ice cream cake to look like a sax though LOL.

Hmm I probably wouldn’t do 2 chocolate cakes, either, but there are usually tons of options if you speak to your baker! FI’s only wedding request was a cookie cake groom’s cake 🙂

Since DH’s favorite cake is yellow or white with fruit filling, we did yellow cake with apricot… but I’ve always coveted the carrot cake groom’s cake! Our wedding cake was chocolate-raspberry with raspberry filling and ivory buttercream.

I don’t think it really matters… Our groomscake is going to be cheesecake!

There is no law saying the groom’s cake has to be chocolate. What is his favorite dessert (anything under the sun)?

I would just do the german chocolate groom’s cake!!! Honestly, I’ve never seen anyone eat the groom’s cake except for the groom…If anything, maybe make some of your wedding cake white, or just have a white sheet cake in the back! Good luck!

This conundrum brings to mind that scene in Steel Magnolias, where the groomscake is an armadillo- complete with red velvet cake….

Ugh. I’m so gross!

LOL the red velvet armadillo is one of my favorite things in the entire world.

I don’t see why it can’t be German chocolate if that’s his favorite. It’s meant for him. Why would your guests care? I’ve never eaten a piece of groom’s cake at a wedding anyway.

Red Velvet is delicious if you wanted to go another direction, though.

If you don’t want white cake, don’t serve it just to have something different. It’s perfectly ok to have two chocolate cakes.
