Fried hair is the worst but bangs with still some fried hair is worser than the worst.
Personally my hair fried from processing, not even like real fried but damaged. I tried to get it work for months, it didn’t improve of course. Every time I get a chop, I know the damage will be less, but it’s never to the same extend as it’ll never feel dry again. A chop is a temporary relief, your damaged hair will keep making its way up again.
Wait until the wedding if you can and get rid of it all at once afterwards.

Could you try a long side fringe that you can tuck behind your ears easily? Have you ever had short bangs and if so does it suit you? If you haven’t tried before I wouldn’t recommend trying it now.
I love the idea of bangs and tried many times in the past, unfortunately it just doesn’t suit my face (make my face look way too small) and few hairdressers managed to get the right thickness (they tend to make it too thick), I also have curly hair and it’s very hard to style short bangs nicely (it is guaranteed not to curl nicely due to the lack of length, and hard to straighten in a natural way, again due to the lack of length). Best length I’ve found that works is just long enough to tuck behind ears so if you don’t love it, you can tuck it.
