oooh my heart goes out to you…. we avoided the mall stores bc i had heard so many horror stories just like yours.  be careful when you do find another jeweler…. alot of the commercial companies are all owned by the same parent company.  our jeweler is amazing but we live in tampa.  we go to gold & diamond source in largo.  they’re big enough to offer selection and great prices, but are still family owned and operated.    hang in there, i’m sure there are plenty of bees in your area that will reach out to you!!!

My ring needed to be resized after I got it.  Even though the Fiance didn’t buy it at Kay’s, when I took the ring in they said the would be more than happy to resize it when I was ready (they put on a ring guard for now) and I would have it back the same day as they have the place in their store.  It was the one located at the Loop off Osceola Parkway.  I highly recommed them and their service was excellent.

I am soooo sorry this happened to you, at a time that should be happy and stress free!

I highly, highly recommend Simmons Jewelers on Park Avenue in Winter Park. Don’t be put off by the address — they are very affordable! They have been there for decades and are super reliable and ethical. Darling Husband and I saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars by having our work done there. I had an e-ring customized and have had other jewelry repairs done there much cheaper  than the prices that were quoted to us by other local jewelers, including International Diamond Center.

Good luck!

Glad to help! They are on the north end of the avenue a few steps past the Briar Patch restaurant. I was there just today. They have been there since 1953 — nearly sixty years! — so that should tell you something about their track record.

I got my e-ring somewhere else and wanted some custom work done on it. International Diamond Center had quoted me one figure and when I told Darling Husband, he suggested we double check with Simmons. As soon as I heard where they were located, I thought, “This is going to be pricey.” I was so wrong! They charged us half of what IDC quoted us!

I have left several expensive pieces of jewelry there in the past to have them repaired or maintained, and they’ve always had it ready within a week or so. They also re-sized my e-ring to a quarter inch — you said Zales wouldn’t do that, so I wanted to let you know that Simmons will definitely do that for you.

I feel comfortable working with them — and leaving my jewelry with them while they work on it — because they’ve been there so long.

Here is the link to their page on the local Better Business Bureau — no complaints in the past three years, for what it is worth.

Oh and one other thing. I had a really hard time finding a parking spot today. I went up and down Park and around the side streets and couldn’t find anything! I finally discovered a free public parking garage, five stories high, right behind Panera Bread on Canton — Panera is within view of Simmons. The free parking is on the fourth and fifth levels. Good luck!

And if you want to price shop on repairs, there is another excellent jeweler in downtown Orlando called Swalstead’s. They have been there since 1926 and I have heard really good things about them, that they are reputable and all that. I’ve never been there though.
