I was just wondering if it is customary to receive a warranty and appraisal when purchasing a ring. we had ours custom made and love the ring and jeweler. when we got the ring we never received a written warranty though he said he will repair it anytime and replace any missing stones. we are bringing it up there today as one stone is lose and he is fixing it no problem. Should we ask for a written warranty and appraisal? I trust the jeweler but i would feel comfortable with something written out. Am i too worried?
btw this is not a chain store but is very reputable.

I also had my rings custom made by a local jeweler. I don’t have a written warranty but I know and trust that they will fix whatever needs fixing, they’ve already taken such good care of other jewelry that wasn’t even bought from them! They did give me an appraisal though, they asked if I needed one for insurance and I said yes, so they gave me one. If you’re planning on insuring your ring (recommended!) then ask for an appraisal. if they don’t do them, it’s easy to find an independent appraiser.

I’m not sure. Mine came with a written warranty and appraisal. The warranty requires me to come in every 4 months to have my ring inspected, so the written portion also had a chart for them to mark when they’ve inspected it.
My ring came from a local, independent jeweler.
