Really close. The day after! First baby… which is considered to be unusual I guess… I had to get a c-section and they were saying in the OR that it looked like she should been born a week ago…. so I guess I could be considered a week late too? I don’t know…

The average first time mother goes overdue by 6-8 days.

Sorry to hijack but I have a question for those who were a week or more overdue. Were you eventually induced, and did you end up with a c-section or any other type of complications from being overdue.?

@Ashley_P:  My first was 2 weeks late. I was induced and never dilated past 5. They lost the heartbeat 3 times so baby was born via emergency c-section. I had an epidural but had already decided I was open to that option. I know a lot of people will say the epi slowed down the birth and resulted in the c-section, but honestly… I think I scared myself out of giving birth! Either that or my baby was just REALLY comfy in there.

@Ashley_P:  6 days late but I’ll answer anyway. Not induced. C-section after about 24 hours of labor. Labor just wasn’t progressing. 🙁 Similar story for my second. I’ve no idea if it was related to being late.

@applebeee:  They said in the OR that she looked like she was a week late because she lost most of the coating that protects their skin from the fluid in your uterus… I have no idea why this was…. I guess they were way off on the EDD when doing the dating ultrasound or it could have been something else..

i was miserable for a few days and went to the hospital twice but was sent home because I was only 1 cm. The dat after the due date, I could not take it anymore, nothing was working.  When I went to the hospital, my water broke when waiting for the epidural and they tried to induce me, change positions..etc. I wasn’t getting anywhere so I had to get a c-section.

@Daisy_Mae:  Yeah I had an epi about halfway though and I’d heard about epi slowing it down too. But what other option was there? It hurt sooooo much and other pain relief methods weren’t working.

@paula1248:  Yeah…that pain was ridiculous, I had not slept for days and I ended up begging for the epi…when they said, “We think you will have to have a cesarean, we don’t want you to get an infection.” I remember thinking, ‘Thank God”.
