So lately I have been thinking about my dress…..I love it – I put it on and didn’t want to take it of, and I didn’t hesitate one bit when we went to buy it, in fact all I could think was how if I didn’t get this dress I might freak out! (lol)
But to tell you the truth it is nothing like what I had dreamed of. When I first went out dress shopping I had this idea in my head, lace, relatively form fitting, simple, elegant, and almost vintage feeling. Only I ended up with a ball gown – still vintage feeling that almost is a combination of Grace Kelly on a Southern Planation (I know sounds like a weird mix) and it’s so beautiful! And the price was perfect!
When I tell people how it was nothing like I thought I wanted, everyone always says yea that tends to happen – but is that what happened with you all? Did you go to try on dresses for the first time to discover that what you always envisioned in your head really wasn’t what either looked best on you or completly wowed you when it was on?

Not.At.All. I thought I wanted sleek, satin, sexy…. I ended up with ruffles and A line and beading. Hmmmm

I thought I wanted a slight A-line all satin with beading… but I ended up with a princess dress ball gown with a tulle skirt and NO beading!!!!!!
So yes that happened to me! But now I couldn’t imagine having a dress like my original vision!

Not at all! I wanted a beautiful, flowy, chiffon or lace dress. These were my two favorites:
And I walked out with this one, and it’s perfect!

Nope, I was imagining lace and A-line skirt… ended up with sleek silk satin with zero embellishments in a trumpet shape!
End up with:

The dress I got is what i have always wanted! i love it but now I am second guessing what i always wanted! I think its just natural to look at other dresses and like them because they are beautiful but chances r if you put them on they would just be that, a pretty dress!

nope…and it’s probably a good thing too. if i went with what was originally in my head, i’d have looked as if I had just walked out of a renaissance faire!

When I first first started shopping, I didn’t think I would be into lace, but I knew I wanted something that really hugged my curves. One lacey dress later, I was hooked. I only tried on lace mermaid dresses after that.

Totally natural to have buyers remourse. My dress looked nothing like what I wanted/envisioned but it worked out. The dress i bought was built for my body type.. the other ones didn’t look as good or make me feel special.

Ok well you ladies made me feel better! I honestly always look at other dresses and dont find any I like more then mine, it’s more of the part that it is so different then what I thought I wanted that it makes me wonder if that was wrong to get it since it was so different? make sense? I know stupid since obviously I love it!
This is what I thought I wanted:
Only when I tried on dresses like this they did nothing for me, I felt like I looked all hips and just pretty but not wow!
Now unfortunately I only have a picture of myself in my dress, and the store I got it from has these dresses made from a small line so I can’t find anything online for it….I know sounds expensive but it was $800 which was like totally in my budget, in fact my mom was ready for up to $1000!! This one is very similar, minus the flowers on the pickups

Not at all. I thought I wanted an empire waist dress in silk. I ended up with a more form-fitting dress A-line dress in satin. But I love my dress so much! I can’t wait for it to arrive in June.

NO! It was the EXACT opposite of what I wanted…I had always pictured lace, very simple and I ended up with NO lace and lots of tulle!! SO not me.
