ReeLuvsRo :  I had initially planned on a 30 person destination wedding to FL.  We too were planning on a sit down dinner reception at a restaurant.  We would have cake, open bar but otherwise not very traditional. I see nothing wrong with this.

I was not going to provide a schedule of events for the weekend but did intend on providing a welcome bag with some goodies and a letter/pamphlet that gave information on the area so that people could plan their time while there.

We did dinner for 60 instead of a more traditional reception. We were there for 3 hours total with appetizers, dinner, toasts, and desert. 3 hours was perfect. We had a blast and felt like we had a good visit with all of our guests. Everyone was up and around and socializing. We had plenty of time and I don’t think anyone missed the other parts of  traditional reception.
