No, I sometimes wish it would have been though! He still makes comments how he would have gotten me something different ๐Ÿ™ I feel like i robbed him of his chance to do that something special

@kayberry:  We picked it out together. I love it but I hate that he wishes it was something different!

I saw a ring in a shop that I needed to stop and look at. It was amazing-and took my breath away. In the store, it was $1800. My jaw DROPED. No way was he ever buying this for me. We has just made a very large purchace and we were determended to pay off our credit card and had said that from now on, anything we bought would be cash only. He looked me in the eye and said “I’m going to buy this for you one day”

    edit to add a pic:

2 years later, he proposes with THAT EXACT RING. I had no idea he even rememebed that moment. It was magical-the whole thing was magical

Yup! I was totally lost and didn’t know what I wanted. We looked together at stores, and I looked online. Finally I gave him the criteria of a round sapphire center stone and “not too flashy”. Doing it this way worked great for us. He’s pretty traditional and probably would have gotten a diamond if I hadn’t said anything, but I kept it really open so he still picked the ring by himself. I didn’t see it until he proposed.

Other. I designed it AFTER we were engaged (got engaged with a placeholder ring that I now wear on my right hand). My e-ring is perfect for me, and I still get dazzled by it more than 2 years later.

Fiance picked it out for me and proposed. ๐Ÿ™‚ Both were 100% surprises! I love my ring.

My FI  only knew that I wanted antique/vintage (and that was a question he asked me and then got confirmation). That was all the direction he wanted, the rest he did totally on his own ๐Ÿ™‚

I got a ring from the 1920’s, very art deco ๐Ÿ™‚
