And the episode started with the wedding planner talking about working with a “difficult bride”. Yes, she is kind of a monster, because she has a bad-ish attitude & is bargaining with people in a rude way (although I am much nicer, and MUCH less effective, so I am not sure if I should be judging her for that one!!). BUT, her Fiance disliked the ring that she bought him b/c it didn’t have diamonds and just CHUCKED THE RING INTO THE RIVER. Now, all the random irritating & somewhat demanding things that she did were accompanied by UFO sound effects and voice-overs about her being on her own planet or other derogatory remarks….while his THROWING AWAY HIS RING BECAUSE IT WASN’T WHAT HE WANTED, got NOTHING.

sometimes i wonder if it’s scripted. because i just can’t see anybody actually doing that.

All those shows are scripted. Even the ads looking for people to be on the shows say as much.

I actually know a couple who was on the show… and YES it is very scripted and manipulated… they basically told them to script an argument over money!!

I’m sure its …or at the least they elicit people to act outside of character.
My issue is that everything the bride does–she’s crazy, demanding, etc–and there are voiceovers, sound effects and interviews with other people to drive that point home. Here you have a groom that THROWS AWAY THE RING, and it doesn’t even get a single comment. It’s the double standard in terms of responses that are elicited that I was upset by, not the outrageousness of the conduct itself.
