I’m reminded how sad it is that the college deemed dark enough for the newly turned Bella vamp to attend was my alma mater. Kudos on getting a pop culture reference, but when you think about it, not so flattering…
Also sad, is that she consider Alaska, another state I’ve lived in. I need some sun. Fortunately I’m headed to SF for a long weekend. 🙂

@kay01: I don’t think I can ever bring myself to watch the movies or read the books. Ick.

I think Twilight sends such wierd messages to young girls. Bella is such a mope, and totally relies on Edward. What is Meyer saying? Women should rely on men their whole lives? Don’t get me wrong, I would hate to be apart from SO but she’s 16 right?

@ladyartichoke: I agree! I think they are okay, not literary classics or anything near that but entertaining. But it does seem like Bella has no life outside of Edward, I think it shows a strange version of a relationship where they have no lives outside of each other which seems unhealthy to me.

@ladyartichoke: I haven’t read the books or seen the movies, other than trailers, but that’s how it comes across to me also. The love triangle isn’t enough plot for my tastes either. Just from the synopsis and summaries I’ve seen, it just doesn’t seem that interesting.

I’ve been watching the films and really don’t get the appeal of either character. The whole “abstinence” idea running through the film really gets up my nose too.
Vampires are sexy; let them screw and be damned!

Yeah, the Edward/Bella relationship is disturbing on a number of levels. At least the Jacob/Bella relationship is a lot healthier in a number of ways.

I was so not into Twilight. Never watched a movie, or read a book. Until last night. The first one was on tv, and my fiance was watching it. As I played on the comp, I couldn’t help but watch. At first it was because i was interested in what the hype was about, but I have to admit it was entertaining. And I would totally be willing to watch the sequels, just to know how it ends.

Haha! New Moon was on tv today and my husband and I were watching it. He kept saying “So…. she’s putting herself in danger to see an imaginary Edward? No wonder he left her.”

As the resident Twi-hard (at 37, no less), I do have to interject that the books are much better than the movies… AND they inspired a million tweens to read again (much like Harry Potter)! I’m such a nerd.

Fiance has never seen it but totally hates it for destroying the idea of vampires.
I think it’s an ok book (the movie’s are awfull), but teenager blowed it out of proportion, it’s not that good, it’s not worth the wortship and in some cases it’s a great example of how girls SHOULD NOT behave.
