I would prefer a water bottle. I can fan myself with my hand/a program if I get really desperate but I can’t make water appear from no where if I get parched.

I wouldn’t worry about the trash can. You can put it in the corner at the back.

How long is the ceremony?  Is your reception immediately following, and is the reception outside as well?

Wait… why does it have to be one or the other? Does your caterer not provide water? At least I always thought water is necessary and should be part of your package regardless of weather, and I don’t think having a trash can is a problem, you can hide it somewhere like PP said. πŸ™‚ It doesn’t have to be water bottles, you can have a drink dispenser with water in it too if you want… but if you MUST choose one or the other I’d go with water. Going to a wedding with no water sounds waaay worse to me than a wedding with a trash can haha πŸ˜›

For the fans, you can make them yourself if you have the time to, it will be a lot cheaper, for mine, I just printed programs and put them on a thick wooden popsicle stick.

I would never say no to water. it’s shouldn’t be warm enough where fans are necessary but they would probably be appreciated as well

vivaciousbride1989:  instead of bottled water, I had a water dispenser with mint and lime infused water. More eco- friendly, which was sort of a theme for me. Less expensive too.

vivaciousbride1989:  I’d go with water. In fact we are providing bottled water for our guests. It’ll be outside in June and TN heat in June can be brutal (praying for no rain). I think as a PP said, programs can be used for fan In a pinch.

vivaciousbride1989:  Ah!! I see what you mean, totally makes sense now, sorry about that. πŸ™‚
I think in that case it’s totally fine to just have fans, if you want to! The dispenser could be a good idea at that time though if you want the guests to at least have that option. Since it’s just the ceremony, I’m assuming not EVERYONE will need water anyway, but it will be there for their convenience. πŸ˜‰

Oh, my comment disappeared I think? Anyway, you could have a nice big basket or something as the rubbish bin. Just pop some empty bottles in there so people know what it’s for.

I’d do water. I’d prefer it myself and I know several men that would rather sweat to death than fan themselves with a little paper fan (hyper-masculinity much?). I’m sure there’s a way of finding / diying a trashcan that you can kind of blend into your decor, at least so it won’t stick out too much.

eta: I would also vote for water because if any of your guests are out of towners who aren’t used to the altitude, dehydration can exacerbate altitude sickness. I’m from Colorado but I live at sea level, and I get altitude sickness for a day or two every time I come back, and staying hydrated is really important.

For a 30-minute ceremony I don’t think either is necessary. I’d skip the expense.

If picking from one or the other, I would say water. However, I think making programs on fans is a great idea.

I like the idea of a water dispenser, it can be kept cool and guests can have it as they please, I also think fans is a nice idea if you coild do both.
