Hi girlies! I’m new here and stumbled on this feed when researching the Devenport before I make up my mind on it this week! I’m from Northern Ireland and Watters is not widely stocked here, only one dress shop I know keeps Watters and I was in love with the Malibu, took my sister to see it last Saturday and saw the Devenport- the Malibu is forgotten!!

The shop owner has offered me her sample dress half price (which is £1065 here) but I need to pay a deposit and confirm that I’m taking it this week … And I am FREAKING OUT!!!!

Tell me I’m doing the right thing??! ๐Ÿ™‚

@HappinessIsInDaisies:  You look beautiful in the dress.  I’m sure your alterations will turn out great.  Good luck.  I’m sure you’ll love the devenport as I did.

@Lindzibun:  Absolutely! it was the third dress i tried on…..but thought there was no way id find my dress at the first store i went too. After many more stores and countless dresses, all with that one in mind, i went back to it and had my “the dress” moment and sobbed (not pretty) in the middle of the store.

It is so light and flowy – and there are plenty of ways to personalize it, as i’m sure you’ve seen by many of the other bees alterations. ๐Ÿ™‚

@HappinessIsInDaisies:  Well…. I bought it! ๐Ÿ™‚ and I am sooooo happy! please everyone keep sharing all your pics, I love seeing how you have all styled and altered the dress, I’m going to add straps and have them crossed at the back maybe to cover a tattoo I hate!

Thanks! Xx

I am wearing the Dev too and can’t wait!!  I’m trying to determine accessories now and having a problem – I’d really love a sash of some sort but I don’t want to take away from the understated elegance that our dress has…does anyone have photos of their sash (and/or a sash they are willing to sell?) :o)

(also – thanks @happinessisindaisies for pointing me to this thread!!)

Hello ladies, congrats to all the new Devenport brides!  I realized that I never circled back and posted photos of our actual wedding.  It was a beautiful day and we’ve been happily married for over a year already!  Here is one of my favorite pics of the dress.  Other brides have already posted front views of their dress, so I wanted to show another angle from the side.  The wind picked up as we were crossing the street and the dress just flowed beautifully.

More pics here: http://jwileyphotography.com/blog/?p=6432 and here: http://jwileyphotography.com/blog/?p=6533  (my wonderful photographer relocated to Santa Monica, I highly recommend her if you’re getting married in that area!)

@MsSunny:  What kind of sash are you leaning towards, satin or sparkle or lace or a combination?

@HappinessIsInDaisies:  I am leaning toward lace with a little sparkle.  I also think it would be beautiful to add a color in the sash (we’re using all different kinds of jewel tones in the wedding so I could do something with those colors) but I’ve always imagined my Dev with just lace and some sparkle so that’s the way I think I’m going to go.  It’s been such a challenge to find the right sash though – everything I find seems to have too much bling (though – they are gorgeous).   I’m starting to think that I may just end up buying some lace and gluing on crystals…

What are you doing for accessories?  Also – that’s a great idea to try and make the transition from the bodice to the skirt less apparent.  That’s the only thing that bugs me about our dress but I never thought to try and fix it.  I’ll have to talk to my seamstress!

I absolutely cannot wait to wear the Devenport dress on my wedding day next May.  I’ve tried it on 4 times and have been in love every single time.  I don’t ever want to take it off.  I’m definitely adding a belt (probably different than the one pictured).  Here’s peeks of it when I tried it on (ignore the over done make-up, was doing a shoot the day I went shopping!!).
