Hi ladies! I love this dress and am wondering if anyone is thinking of selling theirs. Please let me know if you are planning on doing so. Thanks!

@ledge2012:  Sorry, I got it in Ivory, haven’t seen a white version at all.  Would be curious to know what it looks like, especially since I wasn’t happy with the color of my dress at the beginning.

@FutureMrsSMW:  I tried on a ton of belts!  I initially wanted a really blingy belt, but it just didn’t seem to go with the dress.  I ended up with a belt that had a bit of bling on it, but not a ton.  The dress is so soft and romantic, a belt with a lot of stones on it just felt like it didn’t go together – it was too much.  I also ended up liking a slightly thinner sash than a wider sash.  Good luck in your search!

Hi. I’m going to buy the devenport tomorrow in a size 10. It’s a sample, so I’m hoping to get a reasonable price on it. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in “sharing” the dress. The 10 fits me pretty well, so I won’t have to do many alterations.

By “share” I’m thinking we both wear it, then try to resell it afterward. However, if someone really wants to keep it, I’m okay with that, too. Let me know.

@ledge2012 I too contemplated getting the dress in White, because the Ivory was a little too yellow for my taste. I couldn’t find any pictures either but the Macys Bridal Store in Chicago had a swatch, and it is BRIGHT WHITE! Like a huge difference from the Ivory. Once I looked at other bright white lace dresses in the store, I 100% thought the Ivory would be better. I think its softer and romantic and to be honest I worried the white would look cheap. Hope that helps!

@miss.gloves: I think you are totally right that the dress is so soft too much bling doesn’t go.  I have decided not to wear a belt at all and just keep the dress looking as is.  I am going to add some buttons along the zipper in the back though, because I have always dreamed of having buttons down the back of my wedding dress.

@ledge2012:  I was going back and forth between the white and the ivory.  I went with ivory.  Everyone told me that it really shows off the lace detail and is more flattering with most skin colors.  Good luck!  I’m sure either one will be beautiful!

Hello Ladies,

I just purchased the Watters Devenport and I am abosultely in love. I have looked through the photos here and you all look stunning! I adore all the little changes you have made to make the dress your own. However, I am thinking of adding some lace up top for an off the shoulder neckline, similar to the one pictured below. I don’t think I can really pull off strapless and wanted some opinions.

Thank y’all Smile

@imahoot I’m going to add straps as well! I just ordered this dress a couple weeks ago and ordered extra lace to add scalloped-edge straps.  I want to add thick lace straps, similar to the picture you posted, but I probably won’t do off the shoulder. I think lace straps are going to be beautiful on it!

@misstex Scalloped-edge lace will be beautiful! My bridal consultant was kind enough to pin a lace keyhole onto my dress to see what it looked like with something up top, it was beautiful, but I think it made my shoulders look a little bulky that is why I was thinking of doing off the shoulder. Hopefully it turns out OK! I am sure yours will be gorgeous!! πŸ™‚

@badcorebubbles:  I wish your bridal consultant was more helpful! It is so hard to find anything with straps these days, so I was completely blown away when my consultant came right out with lace to pin on the top to help me out. Dev is absolutely stunning as is and you looked so beautiful on your big day! I will post some pics once she comes in around January πŸ™‚

Hi,

I’ve been following these posts for the last week. Sigh, I too have fallen in love with the devenport. Surprisingly enough as it’s pretty much everything I didn’t want. Lace. A-Line, bit puffy… yet nothing else has come close to it. I know you ladies know what I mean!

I’ve been reading about your problems with the colours – the ivory and white lace. I live in London, UK and I have another appointment tomorrow to try it on, I remember it being very white ( although I was told it’s ivory) , because I remember thinking I thought it was perfect that the lace wasn’t too obvious. But now I’m worried that I will order this dress and the organza will be darker… for those of you who have had the problem, has Watters said it was a bad batch? Are there dresses with the organza being as white as the lace?

I’m so glad these posts exist! Thank you πŸ™‚

@DeborahO:  Hi Deborah,

So happy to hear that you have fallen in love with Dev! I ordered mine in August and she just shipped in 2 weeks ago, it is PERFECT! The dress I tried in store seemed quite white to me, although it was Ivory. My dress came in slightly creamier than the one I had tried on, also there is no shade variance from bodice to skirt like some of the girls have had issues with. The sample I tried on had a slight change in color from top to bottom, so I think it all depends on the dye lot. Also, the lace blends beautifully. It is slightly lighter than the organza, so that the lace is noticeable but not in a harsh way. I am overly pleased with my dress and can’t wait to wear it on my wedding day, I won’t want to take it off! I wish you the best of luck ordering your gown and congratulations on your engagement πŸ™‚

Hello Ladies,

I wore the devenport for my wedding this March.  This post was helpful for me when deciding what alterations to have done so I figured I’d share what I did to the dress.  Like some of you, I also added the covered buttons and the sash.  I had the sash cut and sewn into the dress because I didn’t want the bow in the back.  I also ordered extra of the lace material when I bought the dress because I knew I wanted straps.  My seamstress made detachable straps out of the same lace.  I wore the straps for the ceremony and removed them at the reception. I hope this is helpful for any of the brides considering this dress.  I hope you love your dress as much as I did.  Good Luck!

@mobrien:  ooh i love how your did your straps with the same lace. You look stunning!! I ordered extra of the lace for my veil as well. πŸ™‚

Here is my dress at the store where i bought it. I’m also getting buttons put on down the back and I had my seamstress soften the seam line between bodice and the skirt because I felt like it was too pronounced. I also took out two of the layers underneath to make it less puffy. I’m not adding any belt to it though – I actually loved the simplicty of it, so decided not to add anything. I’m not really a sparkle type girl.  I’ll post pictures from the wedding once it’s all done.

I can’t wait to wear it in a few months!!! It was my dream dress…i cried like a baby. πŸ˜›
