Has anyone steamed the skirt? I’m scared that steaming the nori skirt will mess up the fabric…

I fell in love with this dress today looking online! I messaged a bridal shop near me and they recently ordered it, so hopefully it comes in soon! Everyone looks so beautiful in it. 🙂 My wedding date is a little over a year and a half away so I am wondering if I should wait to try it on, but I love it so much!

Mind if I ask about pricinng? Looking online it seems to be around ~$2000.00, but I could be completely off!

I wore this dress at my wedding and wanted to give some tips to everyone who may be wearing this dress to their wedding.

1. I traveled to Michigan from out of state. The car ride alone made my dress need to be steamed so that it could be wrinkle free. Steaming made a huge difference, it really picked up all the layers. I did not need to have anything under the dress to support the layers.

2. I notice in all the pictures that most brides wear the maelin corset tucked into the dress. I wore my corset over the bottom part of the dress. Here is a couple pictures showing how different it looks when not tucked into the bottom. I ended up not wearing the ribbon in my professional pics.

3. It helps to have a really great seamstress for this dress. Especially for working out the fit of the corset. If anyone is in the Chicago area with this dress and needs a recommendation, let me know! I loved my experience with my seamstress and she is the one who made me love this dress.

HBIC :  Hi, I’m wearing the same dress too! Who is the seamstress in Chicago? I think I need a little help with the corset and length of skirt. Do you know if the corset can be taken out?

Any suggestions and ideas are appreciated!

Jeanne

gemweber :  Hi! Have you had your wedding yet? Did you end up having alterations done to the corset? I may need to have mine taken in quite a bit, and I’m very nervous because of all the beading!
