I had been planning on single envelope invites with wax seals. I already have everything. But now I am getting paranoid about the wax during the mailing process. I have heard that the machines can scrape the wax off. Asking to have them hand cancelled is one option, but it’s not like that is the only machine they will pass through.
So now I am considering the second envelope thing, but doing the wax on the inner envelope. What do you all think? Am I just being paranoid? Is having the wax on the inner envolope dumb? I would love your input 🙂

I’d put it on the inner one just to make sure, I want wax seals and that’s my plan (or to just put it on the belly band or something on the invites.

On the inner one would be nice! Also, you could consider a stamp or embosser for a similar look to the wax seal without worrying about it getting damaged. I’ve heard that a wax seal on the outside can make all envelopes be hand-processed & more expensive to mail because of it.

A friend of mine put wax seals on the outside and it was a nightmare. She requested the invites be hand cancelled but they still went though some sort of machine and many of them were delivered bent or the edges crunched up. I think the seal on the inside would be much better.

I had wax seals on the outside of mine and had no trouble at all. But im sure it is hit or miss depending on your location and post office.

I just got my invitation to my friends wedding today! They had a wax seal on the outside of the envelop and it looks so cool! No problems with hers.
