Waxing armpits? Yeah, I said it. Worth it? Painful?

I can sit there and get a full brazilian without wincing, but armpits?  It hurts like no other pain I’ve experienced (and I’ve got 3 tattoos, on on my spine, and one large one on each foot… and multiple, “sensitive” piercings) – and I bruise like a mofo when I’ve gotten my armpits done.

I’ve heard sugaring armpits is way better.  Haven’t tried it, but I might before I go to Africa.

@blushingbride0612:  I waxed them a few times, and YES they hurt. Omg. They hurt. * tears up when thinks about past hurtful experience * haha, but thyre so worth it!! I hate shaving… So im going to start waxing again this month to get used to it. I think the more you do it, the less the pain. plus you can use some numbing creamor spray that would help reduce the pain to a minimul!

As for the Bumps, I did have a few bumps sometimes, but they go away. you just have t make sure to not use deodarant the first day, after your done so you wont irritate it. And just make sure to apply aloe vera when your done.

@blushingbride0612:  I have been getting my armpits wazxed regularly for two years now. the result is so much more nicer and cleaner than shaving. As all waxing, it initially hurts, but as you continue to go, the pain decreases. Also, if you keep it up and not let it grow out too long, the pain is minimal.

I haven’t waxed, but I pluck them (yea, weird, I know, but it leaves them so clean!) and it doesnt hurt at all.  Does that mean waxing wont hurt?

I have been getting my underarms waxed for several years now.  With shaving I was getting bumps and when the hair was coming through it was very itchy- not attractive!  I do not have this problem at all with waxing, and it comes out very clean.   I ususally go every 5-7 weeks, but you have to be ok with having a bit of under arm stubble.  Waxing needs a bit of length to work properly.

At first it hurt but not a ton.  As I have been waxing my hair has gotten a lot finer it has gotten a lot less painful.

@pinkshoes:  I would think that the pain is just the same. Since your basically pulling out the hair from the roots- If you dont feel the pain when plucking, then I gues you wont feel it much as well with waxing!

Anybody ever considered laser hair removal?  I took advantage of a local Groupon, and decided to have my armpits done.  I have had five of the six visits, and there is NO hair under my arms!  I LOVE it, and the pain is actually minimal.  While they are doing the procedure, it feels like a rubber-band sting (and then there’s that burnt hair smell) and any other residual pain/sting goes away by the next day.  It’s really pretty reasonably priced, when you consider what you might pay a salon for a wax or sugaring, and the costs associated with a razor…

Not gonna lie, it HURTSSS. I bleed and cry every time. I started doing laser hair removal, and I can tell you.. the bikini line does not hurt for me at all, but when it comes to doing the armpits, I get teary eyed.

I guess its just a really sensitive area.. I was told its because the hair is thicker and more coarse than say, your legs.

@Mrsgurzakovic:  haha, ok.  Maybe I will give waxing a try and report back.  I think I remember my frist few times trying it, it hurt a little, but now, I feel absolutely nothing from plucking.  Plucking my eye brows hurt more than armpits!  🙁

Ohh, I did this once…

My mom used to do hairdressing, nails, waxing etc. as a career.  So one day (6-7 years ago) at her house I asked her to do my armpits.  During the process, I guy I was dating called.  I obviously didn’t want him to know what I was doing, but I thought “yea, I can talk and have this done at the same time without him having any idea!”  My mom suggested I get off the phone, but of course I was like “nah, it’s ok.”

First strip I screamed bloody murder right into the phone!!

I will never wax there again!!!!!!

I’ve epilated before. The first time I do it, or if I haven’t done it for a while, then mine bleed, but after that then it’s fine. You just get used to it. Plus, I love the finish.

@pinkshoes:  Even though it hurts like CRAZY when I wax my underarms — Threading my eyebrows, hurts twice as MORE! I actually cry and have them ” wait ” until Im ready for them to start. haha

@Mrsgurzakovic:  haha, yea, I pretty much had no choice.  Otherwise it sounded like I was being murdered!!  Talk about humiliating.  He was like “um, you could have called me back later?”  🙂
