I’m so worred about this! I’ve gotten minor burns from waxing before so don’t want to do it too close. I’m flying to my wedding 6 days before, so I think I will do it just before I leave home (a week before) and then have some tweezers on hand in case I see any hairs growing in the day before the wedding.

If you’ve never done it before, I’d do it well before to make sure you’re not allergic and don’t swell up too terribly.

If you’ve done it before, I’d do it maybe a week beforehand, to give the skin time to calm down, and in case you get waxing-bumps.

I thread, so I did it a couple days before.  One of the things I love about threading is that there’s no chance of wax burn or irritation.

I got mine done the day before our engagement pictures and they were fine but I don’t usually have any sort of reaction to wax

I get mine done regulary and have them tinted at the same time so i plan on getting it done 5 days before. Based on my skin after 5 days redness is totally gone and the dye has slightly faded so it looks natural.

@hotchildinthecity:  Had to look up “threading” and that would take a lot longer than waxing and most probably cost more … It’s almost like using tweezers and plucking them one by one …. yes?

I’ll get mine done along with my nails probably the Thursday before our wedding.  I never have a problem with waxing.

@happyface:  As far as I know, it’s actually cheaper than waxing.  Takes the same amount of time.  It’s long strands of thread quickly pulling out the hairs in a plucking fashion.  I pay $10 (with tip) in NYC.

My sister is a beautician. She told me 2 or 3 days before the wedding, so your skin will have time to “recover”. Thursday would be fine. I know what you mean. I got some minor burns too because of wax. Ask your beautician to make sure wax isn’t too hot before she starts.

@happyface: I tried threading once. It cost the same as waxing at the same salon where I usually got a wax done. It took longer and was far more painful. I can get a wax and not flinch. I was in tears when I tried threading.

I’ve booked in to have my lashes tinted and permed, and brows waxed, the week before, so it gives everything time to settle, same as hair, I find it takes about a week for my hair to settle from coloring or cuts, and that includes my eyebrows, they go funny for the first few days.

Definitely get them threaded! So much better (and better for your skin) than waxing. Takes the same amount of time, and I’ve found it to be cheaper, but I guess it depends on where you go. You can get it done the day before, heck even a few hours before, and everything will look completely fine!
