so we’re only 1 month into 2010, definately a long way from Oct 2011 but we booked our location today and i bought my dress on wednesday. i feel good that i got 2 major things done. i also feel a little silly doing everything so soon.

Hey better safe than sorry! And believe me, the more you get out of the way now the less stressful it will be when you get closer to the date… Before you know it we’ll be halfway into 2011 (eep!) and you’ll be grateful that the big things are out of the way so you can concentrate on all the little things that will make your wedding so special!!

I think it’s great if you can book your major vendors as soon as possible…your taste in what type of vendor you want (photographer, florist, caterer, etc.) won’t change much and you don’t have to finalize details (exact menu, flowers, etc) until about 2-3 months before the wedding, so it always feels nice to get those booked!

The way I see it, it’s sooo exciting and the earlier you start the more you get to do along the way!

I’m May 2011 and we’ve booked the venue and I got my dress. We’re probably going to book our caterer this week and our photogs next week.

Don’t worry…I am a July 2011 bride and we booked our location in November! By booking now, you don’t have to compete with other brides. It’s great, not silly!!! 🙂

@trixie I bought my dress as well and have been looking at other vendors such as photo and video and venue. I feel that us being ahead of the game will make us slightly less stressed out and overwhelmed.

We’re scoping out reception areas this weekend, and I’ve been dress shopping.. I don’t think there is any problem booking early. Booking early means this years prices, not next years!

not silly lady, smart! i haven’t started dress shopping..i’m thinking i’ll start in the summer. i feel behind now, yikes!

I’ve started gown shopping, but our main focus is reception hall and photographer before anyone else can get what we want!!! Smart girl!

I’m a Oct 1, 2011 bride too. And, i think it’s great to have everything done early. I’m so busy with taking board exams next summer that I decided to do everything. So, I do have my dress, venue, wedding planner, officiant, flowers, and food. All i need to do is dj, stationery, and other small details. But, for the most part, all big things done!
