I took my dress to an independent seamstress early in January and it needed to be taken in about an inch on each side, plus bustled.
I just went for my second fitting this past thursday, which they thought would be my final fitting, but there was a problem with the seam under my left arm, PLUS they needed to add a point to the bustle, so I have to go back next week.
At the time that I tried it on, I thought they maybe took it in a little too much – she ripped the zipper when she was trying to zip it up on me, or I guess it could have been the 3 lbs I gained since my fitting last month. But I told her it was uncomfortable to breathe and they insisted it was fine and I’d get used to it.
I’m working to lose another 5 lbs, but I had already lost 25 lbs since purchasing the dress and if you ask me, they just took it in a bit too much. She kept saying it needed to be tight to stay up on me, because it’s strapless and heavy.
Anyway, now I’m worried that between this week when I take the dress home and the next 5 weeks, the dress will be ill-fitting on me.
I wasn’t prepared at all for this fitting process – I thought it would happen a lot closer to the wedding and now I’m just stressing over it. Plus, I’m not very confident in the seamstress.
Any words fo wisdom??
