We also did garlands instead of flowers for centerpieces and they were less than half the cost. Plus the florist added in extra white flowers for no charge because she had them left over from the boquets. We also only had 3 bridesmaids/groomsmen so that kept our cost down considerably, and we did small, pinned corsages for the moms. We got married during lent in a Catholic church, so they wouldn’t let us decorate the church, which worked out great! Plus it didn’t need it! We did make our own florals for presenting to the Virgin Mary and the moms at mass but that was it. Instead of giving the helpers corsages of flowers, we found little bracelets on etsy with their initial for like $3 each. We also went with a florist from the local farmer’s market. She did a great job and was half the price of everyone else. We just had to do in season flowers, which was absolutely not a problem for me at all! We used a lot of greenery to fill out everything and keep the costs down as well. Basically I gave her my budget and my wishlist and she gave me options on what would work! We didn’t want the hassle of doing our own flowers, so we just had someone else do them. But definitely shop around. She was the 3rd or 4th quote we got and was just so much cheaper than everyone else. My friend had used her so I knew she was good, which helped.

I went stir crazy trying to budget for table decor and flowers. Look into which season you’ll be getting married, and what would be more economical. Costco definately has better pricing if you insist on flowers. I decided on no wedding party, so I knew that the help would be minimal and I’d be awful at arrangements. The only flowers we had was the sola bouquet I and boutennier I had commissioned in a local town ($75). Opted for pumpkins and fairly lights in wine bottles. Pumpkins I grew from seed, $27 dollars, for 2 full truck loads (weeding, cutting, cleaning and keeping in basement after), free wine bottles from the winery we got married, and fairy lights $30 from amazon, name tags $3. Total expense of flowers and table decor was $135 – small pumpkins were also the wedding favors.img_2334IMG_3755
