We weren’t really creative.  We just said what we would use the money for.

I usually just say thank you so much for the generous gift.. then personalize it with a memory or maybe something you will use it for…

I think all you need to do is thank them for the gift. You could always say something like, “We’re saving up for a family vacation or we’re working on getting our china pattern filled out, and this will work perfectly.”

This is what we ended up with on an older thread after working through some different things for another Bee –

Dear So-and-so,

Thank you for thinking of us as we begin our life as a married couple.  We appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity.  Thank you for the “X”…. [we can’t wait to use it at our next dinner party! we can’t wait to put it ($) toward a Dyson! we can’t wait to treat ourselves to dinner!]. Thank you so much for the unexpected and wonderful surprise! Your kindness will not soon be forgotten.

With love, Mr. and Mrs. Rubyme

We said “Thank you for contributing towards our honeymoon”. I didn’t want to say “thank you for the $100”.

I think most people like to hear about how their money is being put towards something, so state we can’t wait to buy X, or we are so excited about putting your gift towards X.
